How Many Floors for Mobile Toilets at Construction Sites

Admin October 05, 2026

There is no absolute unified standard for the number of floors at which mobile toilets are installed at construction sites. Common suggestions include starting from the 8th floor and installing one every 4 floors, installing one every 3 floors, or installing one every 5 floors for high-rise construction exceeding 8 floors. The specific arrangement should be determined based on actual conditions and relevant regulatory requirements.

Starting from the 8th Floor and Installing One Every 4 Floors

One viewpoint suggests that mobile toilets at construction sites should generally be installed starting from the 8th floor, with one installed every 4 floors thereafter. This arrangement may be based on considerations of the frequency and convenience of toilet use by construction workers during the building process. On lower floors, workers may prefer to use the existing fixed toilet facilities on the ground. When construction reaches the 8th floor or higher, considering the inconvenience of workers going up and down floors to use the toilet, mobile toilets are installed, and one is placed every 4 floors. This can to some extent meet the toilet needs of workers operating on higher floors while avoiding unnecessary costs and management difficulties due to overly dense installations.

Installing One Every 3 Floors

According to the relevant requirements of the "Environmental and Sanitary Standards for Construction Sites" (JGJ146), mobile toilets and smoking areas should be installed every 3 floors in building structures. This standard is formulated from the perspective of ensuring environmental hygiene and worker health at construction sites. Installing one every 3 floors can more timely meet the physiological needs of workers during their work, reduce work time wasted on searching for toilets, and improve construction efficiency. At the same time, a reasonable toilet arrangement also helps maintain the cleanliness of the construction site and reduces environmental pollution and sanitation issues caused by workers relieving themselves randomly.

Installing One Every 5 Floors for High-Rise Construction Exceeding 8 Floors

Another viewpoint indicates that for high-rise building construction exceeding 8 floors, it is advisable to install temporary toilets every 5 floors. For high-rise buildings, the construction period is relatively long, and the number of workers is large, resulting in more complex toilet needs. Installing temporary toilets every 5 floors after exceeding 8 floors is a choice made after comprehensive consideration of factors such as construction costs, management convenience, and worker usage needs. This arrangement can ensure that workers can conveniently use toilets within a certain range while also controlling the number of toilets to some extent and reducing construction and maintenance costs.
