Concert Mobile Toilet Ratio

Admin October 22, 2026

The ratio of mobile toilets for concerts should be comprehensively planned from four aspects: quantity, location and installation, traffic flow and signage, and supporting facilities. Details are as follows:

1. Quantity Ratio
Standard toilet stalls are typically configured at a rate of one stall per 500-800 spectators. For example, a concert with a capacity of 30,000 people would require 60-70 toilet stalls. The proportion of female toilet stalls should be higher than that of male toilet stalls, with a recommended ratio of 1.2:1 to 1:1.5 to avoid long queues at female toilets. For instance, a venue with a capacity of 25,000 people set up 72 toilet stalls, including 40 female stalls; Mayday's concert in Shanghai effectively alleviated female toilet pressure by adjusting the male-to-female toilet ratio to 1:2. Additionally, 3-5 spare toilet stalls should be reserved to cope with sudden surges in foot traffic.

2. Key Points on Location Selection and Installation Ratio
Toilet stalls should be located within 50 meters of the spectator stands to ensure convenience; they should avoid low-lying areas prone to waterlogging and strong wind areas to prevent equipment damage or safety hazards. During installation, ensure the ground is level and secure the toilet stalls with expansion screws to prevent tipping; the top should be equipped with sunshades or rainproof facilities to adapt to different weather conditions. The width of the passageways should be no less than 1.2 meters to facilitate wheelchair access and emergency evacuation, reflecting the concept of barrier-free design.

3. Key Points on Traffic Flow Design and Signage System Ratio
Guide the flow of people with arrow signs to avoid cross-congestion; set up 'Male' and 'Female' signs in prominent positions, and add reflective strips at night to enhance visibility. It is recommended to set up additional mobile handwashing stations near dining areas, but they should be kept more than 10 meters away from the toilet areas to prevent sewage mixing. Reasonable planning of traffic flow can reduce the time spectators spend searching for toilet stalls and enhance the overall experience.

4. Supporting Facilities Ratio
Each toilet stall area should be equipped with trash cans, lighting equipment, and emergency call buttons to ensure hygiene and safety. In hot weather, cooling fans should be installed, while in cold regions, heating facilities should be added to enhance comfort. In terms of barrier-free facilities, one barrier-free toilet stall should be provided for every 10 standard toilet stalls, including handrails, emergency call buttons, and sufficient space to meet the needs of special groups. In addition, dedicated personnel should be arranged to inspect the facilities every hour, promptly clean up trash, and replenish toilet paper to ensure continuous usability.

Through scientific ratio planning and detail optimization, the usage efficiency of mobile toilets at concerts and spectator satisfaction can be significantly improved.
