Images of Community Container Houses

Currently, images of community container houses cannot be directly provided, but their common design features and case scenarios can be described in text for reference.

Common Design Features of Container Houses

Container houses are based on standard shipping containers as structural foundations. The internal space is transformed into residential functional modules through cutting, welding, reinforcement, and other methods. Their design features include:

  • Modular Combination: A single container typically has dimensions of 20 feet (6 meters in length, 2.4 meters in width, and 2.6 meters in height) or 40 feet. Space can be expanded through stacking, side-by-side arrangement, or staggered-floor combinations. For example, in one case, four 30-square-meter containers were stacked in a staggered manner to form a two-story residence of 120 square meters, including a living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and a terrace.
  • Functional Integration: Although the internal space is limited, multi-functionality is achieved through customized furniture. For instance, a foldable bed serves as a sofa during the day and unfolds into a double bed at night; the kitchen adopts a linear design, combining upper and lower cabinets with open shelves to accommodate both operations and storage.
  • Materials and Decoration: The exterior facade often retains the original metallic texture of the container or is painted with black, dark blue, or other coatings to enhance visual impact. Inside, natural wood furniture and white walls are commonly used to create a warm atmosphere. Some cases introduce natural light through large areas of glass and extend the sense of space with terraces or courtyards.

Typical Application Scenarios and Cases

  • Forest Cabin: A couple transformed a 15-square-meter container into a "mini villa" by adding a side door connected to a terrace and installing solar panels on the roof to solve power supply issues. The interior features a minimalist natural wood style, equipped with foldable furniture and a fire-resistant black decorative wall, with a total cost of approximately 110,000 yuan.
  • Multi-story Residence: A project utilized six containers to construct a modular residence, forming a three-sided enclosed courtyard at the entrance. Inside, it includes three bedrooms, a storage room, and kitchen and bathroom spaces, achieving functional zoning and efficient space utilization through modular design.
  • Temporary Residence: Some cases target non-construction land or temporary residence needs, leveraging the quick assembly characteristics of containers. For example, a family in a rural area used an insulated container instead of a traditional house on the original foundation, planning air conditioning and storage space inside to meet basic living needs.

Safety and Regulatory Recommendations

Container houses should pay attention to fire safety by avoiding the use of flammable materials such as polystyrene for wall filling and prioritizing A-grade fire-resistant materials like rock wool boards. Electrical wiring should be protected with sleeves, sockets should use metal galvanized boxes and be surface-mounted, and a minimum safety distance of 6 meters should be maintained between containers.
