China's Mobile Toilets

Admin October 02, 2026

China's mobile toilets, also known as portable toilets, are facilities that can be moved as a whole to provide public restroom services.

I. Applicable Locations Mobile toilets are suitable for a wide range of locations, including transportation hubs such as train stations and docks, facilitating travelers to solve restroom needs during their journeys. Tourist attractions are also important deployment sites, meeting the physiological needs of tourists during their visits. Residential areas like villa districts and newly built communities can use mobile toilets for temporary restroom services when supporting facilities are not yet complete. Large construction sites with dense personnel require mobile toilets to ensure workers' basic living needs. Squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets, with high foot traffic, can effectively alleviate restroom pressure with mobile toilets.

II. Materials and Construction Initially, mobile toilets were made of materials like wood, with simple structures and functions that easily absorbed odors. With technological advancements, materials such as fiberglass and polyethylene are now used. They generally consist of fecal sewage storage tanks (or fecal sewage treatment devices), floor slabs, sanitary fixtures, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices.

III. Structure and Classification From a structural perspective, mobile toilets are divided into single-structure and composite-structure types. Based on mobility, there are hoisting and handling mobile toilets, as well as powered and towed mobile toilets. According to sewage treatment methods, they are classified as water-flush and non-water-flush suction mobile toilets, circulating water-flush mobile toilets, and dry-packing mobile toilets.

IV. Features and Design Principles Their features include the ability to be conveniently transported to any location where toilets are needed and can be reused multiple times, offering advantages such as mobility, modularity, and ease of transportation. Design principles should follow mobility, convenience, economic durability, environmental protection, ecological benefits, efficiency enhancement, and humanitarian promotion. The overall structure should consider lightness, using lightweight and durable materials whenever possible, with a sturdy structure. The height and width of the toilets should be controlled, and the mobile devices should be complete and reasonable.

V. New Chinese-Style Mobile Toilets For example, the new Chinese-style mobile toilet produced by Dezhou Hongtu Metal Products Co., Ltd. features a flat roof design with a red wood-grain effect on the exterior walls. The middle of the toilet is a public washing area with a bathroom cabinet and a beauty mirror, and it has three squat toilets. The new Chinese-style mobile public toilet produced by Taihe Mobile Toilet Manufacturer is designed with six squat toilets in total (three for men), with a public washing area in the middle. The exterior material is metal carved panels, with a welded steel structure frame, which can be used outdoors for more than 15 years, complete with water and electricity supplies.
