Window Treatment for Cement Prefabricated Houses

Admin September 18, 2026

Window treatment for cement prefabricated houses mainly includes the removal of cement stains on windows and the base treatment during installation.

Removal of Cement Stains on Windows

  • Uncured Cement: If the cement has just adhered and is uncured, it can be directly wiped repeatedly with a damp cloth dipped in a small amount of dishwashing detergent or laundry detergent, and then rinsed with clean water and dried. Alternatively, it can be gently scraped off with a damp cloth in combination with a plastic scraper. Be careful not to scratch the glass surface with a metal scraper, and dry the water stains after wiping.
  • Cured Cement
    • Non-metal Windows and Doors (such as plastic-steel and aluminum alloy): First, gently scrape off the surface caked cement with a scraper, being careful not to scratch the paint surface. Then, dip a cloth in a diluted solution of hydrochloric acid or oxalic acid (diluted at a ratio of 1:10 with water) to wipe off the remaining cement stains. After a few minutes, wipe it clean with a damp cloth, and finally rinse and dry it with clean water. Wear rubber gloves during operation.
    • Wooden Windows and Doors: Do not use acidic cleaners. First, blow hot air onto the cement stains with a hair dryer to soften the cement. Then, gently brush off the surface layer with a soft-bristled brush. After that, use a damp soft cloth dipped in a small amount of toothpaste to gently wipe off the remaining marks. Finally, dry the wooden surface to prevent moisture-induced deformation. You can also use a professional cement cleaner according to the product instructions.
    • Glass Material: Prepare a special cement cleaner, or mix warm water with a small amount of dishwashing detergent and white vinegar to prepare a cleaning solution. Spray it on the stains and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Gently wipe it in one direction with a soft scouring pad. After removing most of the stains, wipe off the remaining cleaner and debris with a damp cloth. If the cement has dried for a long time and ordinary cleaners are ineffective, gently scrape off the surface hard lumps with the back of a utility knife. Be careful not to press the blade tightly against the glass to avoid scratching the glass surface. After scraping, wipe it with a diluted oxalic acid solution, and then rinse it thoroughly with a large amount of clean water to avoid residual oxalic acid corroding the metal frame or sealing strip of the window. Wear rubber gloves during operation. For coated glass, it is recommended to test the cleaner in an inconspicuous corner first.
    • Exterior Wall Windows: Use a special cement cleaner, dilute it according to the product instructions, and spray it on the stains. Let it sit for 10 - 15 minutes, then wipe it with a soft cloth and rinse it clean. Wear rubber gloves during use. Alternatively, apply white vinegar or a diluted oxalic acid solution to the cement stains, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then gently scrub it with a soft-bristled brush, and finally rinse it thoroughly with a large amount of clean water. Note that oxalic acid is highly corrosive, so avoid contact with metal parts and skin. For small pieces of firmly adhered cement, gently scrape them off with a plastic scraper or gently pry them with the back of a blade, being careful to protect the base material. After cleaning, rinse the windows and exterior walls with clean water. For tiled exterior walls or coated glass, it is recommended to test the cleaner in a small area first.

Base Treatment During Installation

  • Thorough Cleaning: Before installation, remove dust, oil stains, loose particles, and residues from the base surface to ensure a clean bonding surface. You can use a wire brush or a high-pressure water gun for cleaning. If necessary, use an interface agent to enhance adhesion.
  • Flatness Control: The base should be flat and firm, without hollows or cracks. Level any uneven areas with cement mortar, with an error control within 3mm/2m. Excessive unevenness will cause uneven stress on the decorative windows, making them prone to cracking and falling off.
  • Sufficient Moistening: Spray water on the base one hour before construction to moisten it, but ensure there is no standing water. A dry base will quickly absorb the moisture from the mortar, weakening the bonding strength, while excessive moisture will dilute the mortar and affect its hardening.
