Car Converted to Mobile Toilet

Admin September 21, 2026

There have been various practical cases in the technology and application of converting cars into mobile toilets, demonstrating feasibility and diverse functions.

I. Passenger Vehicle Sector

  1. Seres: In April 2024, Seres was granted a patent for a 'vehicle-mounted toilet and vehicle' designed for long-distance travel scenarios in new energy vehicles. The toilet features a sliding rail structure, concealed beneath the driver and passenger seats. It can be extended with a single button operation and is equipped with a 5L sealed waste collection tank, a negative pressure odor removal system, constant temperature heating, and disposable toilet bags. A foldable privacy curtain ensures user privacy. This design primarily addresses the challenge of finding restrooms during highway traffic jams or in remote areas. The waste collection tank capacity meets the needs of a single long-distance trip, and the negative pressure system effectively suppresses odor diffusion.
  2. Ironman Auto: Ironman Auto has introduced a vehicle-mounted toilet accessory that can be installed in the central storage compartment. It enables emergency use by placing a toilet seat cover after lifting the lid. Its advantage lies in its modular design, which does not require modification of the vehicle's structure. However, its functions are relatively basic, suitable only for temporary scenarios, and it lacks a sealed waste collection and odor removal system.

II. Commercial Vehicle Sector Dazhou 'High-Tech' Bus: Transformed from a regular bus, this vehicle was put into service in May 2025 and can serve approximately 1,000 people per day. It is primarily used for urban emergency support and large-scale event scenarios. Its technological highlights include:

  • Water-saving System: Utilizing a bubble-sealed high-pressure water-saving flushing technology, it consumes only 0.6-1.2 liters of water per flush, saving over 70% of water compared to traditional vehicle-mounted toilets, making it suitable for high-frequency use scenarios.
  • Spatial Layout: The women's restroom is equipped with four squat toilets and one vacuum self-cleaning toilet with handrails; the men's restroom has one squat toilet, two vacuum self-cleaning toilets, and two automatic sensor urinals, catering to the needs of different groups.
  • Intelligent Facilities: It is equipped with a fresh air ventilation system, infrared/ultrasonic detection functions, central air conditioning, and smoke alarms. Background music enhances the user experience, while details such as makeup mirrors and multifunctional washbasins increase practicality.

III. Technological Core and Applicable Scenarios Passenger vehicle modifications focus on privacy and portability, balancing space utilization and functional requirements through integrated design. Commercial vehicle modifications emphasize large capacity, water efficiency, and intelligence, meeting the high-load operational requirements of public scenarios. Both types of cases reduce modification costs through modular design and adopt sealed waste collection or bubble-sealing technology to avoid pollution, complying with environmental standards. In the future, with the development of materials science and intelligent control technologies, the comfort, water efficiency, and adaptability of mobile toilets are expected to further improve.
