Can the Toilet Pit Be Moved?
Admin October 13, 2026
The toilet pit can be moved, but appropriate methods should be chosen based on the actual situation, and relevant precautions should be taken to ensure usage effectiveness and safety.

There are several common methods for moving a toilet pit:
- Using a toilet offset connector: Suitable for short-distance movement, generally not exceeding 7.5 centimeters for normal toilet relocation. An offset connector is a pipe fitting that adjusts the position by connecting the toilet's drainage outlet to the original sewer pipe outlet. However, using an offset connector increases the bends in the drainage pipe, which may affect flushing performance and increase the risk of blockage. Therefore, when using one, try to choose a product with a short relocation distance and ensure correct installation to minimize adverse effects.
- Raising the floor: If the movement distance is relatively long and the bathroom floor allows for raising, this method can be adopted. It involves laying new drainage pipes under the floor and connecting them to the original sewer pipe outlet. The height of the raise depends on the movement distance and pipe slope. At the same time, ensure there is sufficient slope on the floor for drainage, and reapply waterproofing after raising to prevent leakage issues.
- Drilling new holes or chiseling: Suitable for situations where the toilet position needs to be moved significantly. However, this method may damage the bathroom's waterproof layer and structural safety, so extra caution is required during operation. Moreover, since it involves the rights and interests of the neighbors downstairs, it must be carried out only after consulting and obtaining consent from them.
- Using a wall-mounted toilet: If the bathroom conditions permit, a wall-mounted toilet is a good choice. Its drainage pipe is hidden inside the wall, and the toilet position can be adjusted by changing the position of the pipe inside the wall. However, this modification involves a large amount of work, and installation requires professional skills and tools. It is best to have professionals carry out the installation to ensure quality and effectiveness.
During the process of modifying the toilet pit, it is also important to ensure that the modified position aligns with the overall layout and usage habits of the bathroom, and to protect the waterproof layer and structural safety. After modification, reapply waterproofing and conduct a closed-water test to check for any leakage and ensure safety in use.
