Calculation of Prefabricated Slabs in Building Architecture
The calculation of prefabricated slabs mainly includes two aspects: cost and weight, with specific calculation methods as follows:

Cost Calculation
The cost calculation of prefabricated slabs is based on volume, combined with the unit price of materials for estimation. The volume calculation formula is: Volume = Length × Width × Thickness. For example, for a prefabricated slab with a length of 1 meter, a width of 0.5 meters, and a thickness of 0.08 meters, the volume is 1 × 0.5 × 0.08 = 0.04 cubic meters. If the unit price of C25 reinforced concrete is 500 yuan per cubic meter, the cost of a single slab is 0.04 × 500 = 20 yuan. The actual cost needs to consider factors such as construction conditions, market conditions, and material quality, and additional costs such as transportation fees, site preparation fees, and safety protection fees also need to be added. For example, if the transportation distance increases or the material quality requirements are raised, the unit price may increase by 10%-20%.
Weight Calculation
The weight of a prefabricated slab is obtained by multiplying the mass by the acceleration due to gravity (9.8N/kg), and the mass is equal to the density multiplied by the volume. Volume calculation needs to be adjusted according to the slab type: for solid slabs, use length × width × height directly; for hollow slabs, deduct the volume of the hollow part (usually accounting for 20%-30% of the total volume); for lightweight slabs, the unit weight (weight per unit area) provided by the manufacturer can be used directly.
1. Ordinary Solid Concrete Prefabricated Slabs
Taking a solid slab with specifications of 2.4 meters × 0.5 meters × 0.06 meters as an example, the volume is 2.4 × 0.5 × 0.06 = 0.072 cubic meters. If the density is taken as 2400kg/m³, the weight is 0.072 × 2400 = 172.8kg. The influence of reinforcement on weight is relatively small. Although the density of steel bars is high (about 7850kg/m³), their volume usually accounts for less than 3% and can be ignored.
2. Hollow Prefabricated Slabs
Taking a hollow slab with dimensions of 1 meter × 0.5 meters × 0.1 meters as an example, the total volume is 0.05 cubic meters. If the hollow part accounts for 25%, the solid volume is 0.05 × (1 - 25%) = 0.0375 cubic meters. The weight of ordinary concrete (density 2400kg/m³) is 0.0375 × 2400 = 90kg; the weight of lightweight aggregate concrete (density 1800kg/m³) is 0.0375 × 1800 = 67.5kg.
3. Lightweight Concrete Prefabricated Slabs
Taking a lightweight partition slab with dimensions of 3 meters × 0.6 meters × 0.1 meters as an example, the volume is 0.18 cubic meters. If the density is taken as 750kg/m³, the weight is 0.18 × 750 = 135kg. For hollow slabs, the volume of holes needs to be deducted or the unit weight can be used directly for calculation. For example, for a slab with a unit weight of 700kg/m² from a certain brand, the weight is the area × the unit weight.
4. Steel Fiber Concrete Prefabricated Slabs
Taking a steel fiber cover slab with dimensions of 1 meter × 0.5 meters × 0.05 meters as an example, the volume is 0.025 cubic meters. If the density is taken as 2500kg/m³, the weight is 0.025 × 2500 = 62.5kg. Although steel fibers add a small amount of weight, they can improve the flexural strength, allowing for a thinner design.
Key Factors Affecting Weight
- Material Density: Ordinary concrete ranges from 2400-2500kg/m³, lightweight concrete ranges from 600-1800kg/m³, and foam concrete ranges from 400-1600kg/m³.
- Reinforcement Ratio: The amount of steel bars accounts for 1%-3% of the volume, and the weight increases by about 2%-5%.
- Moisture Content: After curing and drying, the weight decreases by 5%-10%.
