Building a Private Small Portable Toilet

Admin October 11, 2026

Building a private small portable toilet can be achieved through two methods: using a water storage tank and a pallet, or using buckets. Here are the specific steps:

I. Method Using a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet

  1. Basic Frame Construction: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the pallet bottom for easy mobility; place a recycled water storage tank as the main structure.
  2. Tank Modification: Use an angle grinder to cut along the marked line on the top of the water storage tank to form an open tank; stack two open-top water storage tanks upside down and fix the outer frame with self-tapping screws to enhance stability.
  3. Functional Area Division: Cut out a rectangular doorway measuring 180 cm in height and 50 cm in width as an access passage for people; drill a hole in the interior floor, insert an elbow and a water pipe, and seal them to prevent water leakage.
  4. Sanitary Facility Installation: Install and fix a toilet, ensuring a tight connection with the drainage system; fix a water pipe on the wall with clips and install a faucet to provide clean water; make a sink with a stainless steel basin and fix it, connecting the water inlet pipe of the toilet tank and the shower hose.
  5. Shower System Configuration: Install a toilet seat and a spray-type showerhead to meet basic bathing needs; make a door with wooden boards and hinges, and install a door handle to ensure privacy.

II. Method Using Buckets

  1. Base and Fixation: Use a wooden board with universal wheels installed as the base, place the cut buckets on it, and fix them to the bucket bodies with wooden strips to prevent sliding.
  2. Access Making: Use an angle grinder to cut the buckets to create access points; wrap and fix the cut edges with wooden boards to avoid scratches; extend and heighten with aluminum-plastic panels and then install bucket lids to improve sealing.
  3. Drainage System Design: Drill holes at the bottom to connect an elbow drainage pipe and a floor drain to ensure smooth sewage discharge; drill holes on the side and at the middle of the bottom of the green bucket to install water pipe connectors and connect to the water supply pipeline.
  4. Shower Facility Installation: Place the green bucket on the top bucket lid,拼接 (assemble) PVC pipes to make a showerhead and install it; drill a hole in the middle of the base as the toilet drainage pipe, install a new toilet and apply sealant to prevent odor leakage.
  5. Door Processing: Process a wooden door with wood and install it to ensure privacy during use.

Both methods require attention to material selection and sealing treatment to ensure a stable structure, complete functionality, while also considering portability and practicality.
