Situation of Mobile Toilets for Boat Fishing
The situation of mobile toilets during boat fishing varies depending on the type and size of the vessel, with the following main scenarios:

For small fishing boats, portable mobile toilets are a relatively flexible and simple solution for onboard sanitation. They do not require complex plumbing installations and can be placed anywhere in the cabin at any time, making them particularly suitable for boats with limited space or those setting out on short trips. These toilets are low-cost and easy to install, being ready for use immediately after purchase. However, they also have some drawbacks, such as the need for manual cleaning and emptying, limited storage capacity, and are not suitable for long-term maritime operations or boats with a large crew.
Modern large-scale ocean-going fishing vessels are generally equipped with bathrooms, and the living area facilities are relatively complete. The bathrooms often adopt integrated modular 'marine sanitation units' that integrate toilet, shower, and washing functions, meeting industry standards. When crew members use these bathrooms, the experience is not much different from that on land, with basic guarantees for privacy and hygiene.
In addition, some small and rudimentary fishing boats do not have fixed indoor bathrooms, and crew members may resort to 'solving the problem at the gunwale', that is, directly defecating into the sea from the side of the boat, or using portable urinals or toilets. These methods can only meet basic needs and fall significantly short in terms of comfort, privacy, and dignity. At the same time, according to international law, the excreta of crew members on ships cannot be directly discharged into the sea. Modern fishing boats generally have sewage tanks to collect and treat excreta, which are then pumped out by specialized sewage boats after docking to ensure compliance with environmental protection requirements and avoid pollution to the marine environment.
