Black Water Tank Portable Toilet
Black water tank portable toilets have diverse applications in RVs and related scenarios, mainly including RV smart biological toilets, portable toilets, pull-out cassette toilets, and direct-discharge toilets, each with its own characteristics.

RV Smart Biological Toilet: Equipped with a black water tank, it operates based on the principle of biological degradation. It uses bacteria to process degradation materials such as coconut shells, and through electric stirring and heating, it can degrade excrement in just a few minutes. Odors are expelled through a fan. Generally, the degradation material needs to be replaced every 60 days for one person and every 30-40 days for two people. The degraded material can also be used as fertilizer for growing flowers, making it environmentally friendly and practical.
Portable Toilet: Composed of two parts, the upper part is a toilet seat and water tank with a detachable cushion and lid, and the lower part is a black water tank that can be separated from the upper part. Its advantage is that it is easy to move and can be carried in the vehicle. Taking it out during showers can increase the space in the bathroom. However, cleaning is relatively troublesome, and the flushing volume is small. It needs to be moved from the vehicle to the outdoors for separation, black water discharge, cleaning, and assembly. Similar to portable toilets, pull-out cassette toilets also require self-emptying of the black water tank. Some portable toilets do not require connection to water supply and drainage systems, making them simple and convenient to use with diverse functions. However, some domestically produced portable toilets have unreasonable designs.
Pull-Out Cassette Toilet: The toilet in the bathroom is fixed and has a flushing function. The indoor toilet seat can rotate, and the black water tank is usually located inside the compartment door of the external body of the vehicle. The advantage is that the black water tank is outdoors, eliminating the need to remove the entire toilet from the vehicle, saving the process of separation and handling, and allowing direct removal of the black water tank from the outdoors for discharge. Thetford cassette toilets feature a layered design, with the toilet in the bathroom and the black water tank outside the vehicle. There is a partition to block odors, and the black water tank is sealed and odorless. However, they require a water connection and frequent emptying. Dometic cassette toilets also adopt a layered design, have high brand recognition, and guaranteed quality, but they are expensive with high usage costs.
Direct-Discharge Toilet (Grinding Toilet): It grinds feces through the toilet and discharges them into the black water tank. When the black water tank is full, the pull-out valve is opened for direct discharge. Its advantage is that it is as convenient to use as a household toilet, allowing for flushing and discharge as needed, and is clean, hygienic, and easy to maintain. The disadvantage is that the toilet uses a 220V grinding motor, requiring the use of an inverter in the vehicle. It consumes a large amount of water, causing the black water tank to fill up quickly. Moreover, there are few RV campsites in China, and there are limited places for sewage discharge, making it inconvenient to find black water discharge locations.
