Beijing Sunroom Prices and How the Industry Evolved

Admin September 04, 2026

How much do Beijing sunrooms cost? Sunrooms can be divided into five development stages by material and construction method: pure wood, pure steel, aluminum curtain wall, and steel-aluminum structures. How much do Beijing sunrooms cost? How did the industry evolve?

After Columbus discovered the New World and before the Industrial Revolution, tropical plants, flowers, and fruits entered Europe. Europe's cold climate could not support cultivation, but royalty enjoyed them. Skilled craftsmen built greenhouses for nobility. Later, people found these greenhouses full of sunlight and greenery could grow tropical crops and serve as leisure, entertainment, family gathering, and studio spaces.

After the Industrial Revolution, at the 18th-century London World's Fair, Britain built an 80,000 mÂČ pavilion—pure steel and glass—as the pinnacle of early steel sunrooms. Mass steel production further expanded early sunroom applications. Steel sunrooms appear in films such as The Sound of Music and The Time Machine.

In the first half of the 19th century, with high-rise construction, aluminum—easy to form and lightweight—was used for doors and windows. Modern lighting towers and ceilings were also aluminum. As living standards rose, sunrooms became essential for middle- and upper-income families abroad. Sunrooms became a lifestyle. With rising Chinese incomes and growth in villas and duplex homes, sunrooms became an unstoppable trend. People built to their taste—natural wood or industrial steel. Aluminum became mainstream due to standardized curtain wall materials.

Steel-aluminum sunrooms mainly use steel frames and aluminum profiles. Some sunrooms are too large for aluminum alone; steel's high strength and weldability suit large builds. Domestically (especially Shanghai), sunrooms were new and costly, so steel-aluminum composites reduced cost—steel for strength, aluminum for finish. Aluminum-clad steel sunrooms fit early-21st-century China: high strength, low cost, but long cycles, lack of standardization, many uncontrollable factors, and quality variability.

How much do Beijing sunrooms cost? Sunrooms at home and abroad have entered a new phase—factory-produced standardized sunroom systems (Sunroom System). In the UK, origin of sunrooms, annual sales reach 400,000 units—for an island nation, that shows sunrooms are a genuine growth industry in China. True sunroom systems should meet these conditions: 1/ All steel, parts, and accessories are standardized factory production—all cutting, milling, drilling, and tapping completed in the factory. On-site construction time shrank dramatically—from two weeks for aluminum-steel or steel construction to 1–5 days. 2/ New materials: aluminum alloys in many forms; sunroom frame material uses titanium-magnesium aluminum alloy 6063, 30–40% stronger than ordinary door-window aluminum at 1.5× the price—improving strength, stability, wind resistance, and seismic performance. 3/ Sunrooms exposed to intense sun require all plastics with UV protection—modifiers and anti-UV agents in raw materials prevent yellowing and brittle aging. 4/ Changed packaging and transport: sunroom systems disassemble easily, greatly reducing shipping hassle and cost—like moving a piece of furniture, you can easily relocate a medium sunroom.
