Mobile Toilets at the Award Square

Admin September 26, 2026

The mobile toilets used at the Award Square are epidemic-prevention intelligent and environmentally friendly mobile public toilets, and they were the only designated toilet facilities for the Beijing Award Square area during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Design and Patents: These mobile public toilets were designed and developed by a team led by Meng Jianmin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. They have applied for 34 patents, reflecting their technological advancement and innovation.

Functional Features:

  • Efficient Epidemic Prevention: Equipped with a nano-mist disinfection device inside, the disinfection frequency can be set independently, effectively killing bacteria and viruses in the air and providing a safe toilet environment for users.
  • Odorless: Using through-type deodorization technology, the foul-smelling gases are treated and then emit fresh air, solving the problem of heavy odors in traditional mobile toilets.
  • No Need to Connect to Municipal Sewer Networks: These mobile public toilets are independent and do not rely on external municipal sewer networks. They can be placed and used anywhere, adapting to various complex environments.
  • Low-carbon and Environmentally Friendly: They integrate technologies such as sewage storage, energy conservation, harmless treatment, and resource treatment, with a water-saving rate of over 70%, in line with the concept of green environmental protection.

Usage: During the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, from January 9, 2022, to the present, a total of 119 toilet units have been deployed, providing services for 43 consecutive days and serving up to 56,583 people. This data fully demonstrates the practicality and reliability of these mobile public toilets.

Operational Performance: During the Winter Olympics, these mobile public toilets achieved zero failures, zero defects, and zero accidents, providing strong support for the smooth operation of the Award Square. Their efficient, stable, and environmentally friendly performance has been widely recognized, offering valuable references for the design of mobile toilets for future large-scale events.
