Area of Single Mobile Toilet

Admin September 23, 2026

The area of single mobile toilets varies depending on their configuration and purpose, mainly falling into three categories: standard type, single-toilet-cubicle type, and special large-capacity type, as detailed below:

1. Internal area of standard single-person mobile toilets
The internal floor area of standard single-person mobile toilets typically ranges from 1.2 to 1.8 square meters. This range is based on ergonomic design and must meet the basic activity needs of adults using sit-down or squat toilets, including standing, turning around, and opening and closing doors. For example, if only basic sanitary facilities (such as a toilet and a sink) are installed, 1.2 square meters can meet functional requirements; if storage space or barrier-free facilities (such as handrails and emergency call devices) are added, the internal area may expand to 1.8 square meters. Additionally, a single-unit mobile toilet (including basic equipment) requires at least 1.1 square meters, but this value is usually considered a minimum standard and is rarely used in practice.

2. Standard usable area of single toilet cubicles
From a functional perspective, the standard usable area of a single toilet cubicle is typically 1.5 to 2 square meters. This range takes into account the type of toilet (sit-down or squat), user activity space, and ventilation requirements. For example, 1.5 square meters can accommodate a squat toilet and basic turning space, suitable for scenarios with low foot traffic; while 2 square meters can support a sit-down toilet, a small sink, and more ample activity space, suitable for places with higher comfort requirements.

3. Special large-capacity single toilets
For scenarios with high foot traffic (such as tourist attractions and large event venues), there are 30-square-meter single mobile toilets. These toilets achieve large capacity by expanding their external dimensions, such as a layout of 10 meters in length and 3 meters in width, with multiple independent toilet cubicles or additional management rooms and barrier-free facilities inside. Their design goal is to maximize the number of people served in a single use while maintaining mobility and reducing queuing time.

External dimension reference
The external dimensions of single mobile toilets directly affect their footprint: common lengths range from 1.5 to 2.5 meters, widths from 1.2 to 1.8 meters, and heights from 2.2 to 2.5 meters. For example, a single toilet with a length of 2 meters and a width of 1.5 meters has an external footprint of 3 square meters, and the internal usable area needs to be further calculated based on the wall thickness (usually 0.1 to 0.2 meters).

In summary, the area selection of single mobile toilets should be comprehensively evaluated based on the usage scenario, foot traffic, and functional requirements, with standard types mainly ranging from 1.2 to 2 square meters and special scenarios extending up to 30 square meters.
