Apple Pod Mobile Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

The Apple Pod mobile container house is a modular building form that uses containers as the basic unit and adopts factory-prefabricated assembled box-type houses.

Structure and Materials

The basic structure of the Apple Pod is modeled after containers, but it is not directly a modified shipping container. Its main frame is usually welded from hot-dip galvanized square steel, with commonly used specifications including galvanized square tubes of sizes 100×100mm and 80×80mm. The wall panels are made of aluminum-zinc color-coated steel plates combined with insulation materials such as rock wool, glass wool, or polyurethane. The exterior features an arc-top design and metal-integrated wall panels, creating a form that combines rounded edges with sharp corners. The interior space can be freely customized and can be placed independently or assembled in a modular fashion.

Dimensions and Specifications

The Apple Pod offers flexible dimensions. For domestic trade, the standard size is 3 meters × 6 meters. For foreign trade, the size range extends from 5.8 meters × 2.2 meters to 11.5 meters × 2.2 meters, corresponding to the two main models of 20-foot and 40-foot containers, with areas of approximately 12.98 square meters and 25.96 square meters, respectively. A single pod has a standard width of 3 meters, with optional lengths of 3 meters, 6 meters, 9 meters, or 12 meters. It supports various arrangements and stacking combinations, adapting to a wide range of needs from single-room guesthouses to multi-functional composite spaces.

Performance Characteristics

  • Thermal Insulation and Weather Resistance: Taking products designed for Hokkaido, Japan, as an example, for extreme low-temperature environments of minus 20°C, the entire house is sprayed with a high-density polyurethane insulation layer, combined with a dual heating system of underfloor heating and air conditioning, along with heat pump-assisted heating technology. The multi-layer insulation system achieves a comprehensive heat transfer coefficient of K ≤ 0.28W/㎡·K, meeting ultra-low-energy building standards. It has a waterproof rating of IP66, enabling it to withstand various harsh weather conditions. The walls adopt a composite sandwich panel structure, with the glass being insulated tempered glass. The frame is hot-dip galvanized to enhance corrosion resistance, and the wall panels have strong weather resistance, with a designed service life of over 20 years.
  • Photovoltaic Integration: Some solutions directly embed custom crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules into the roof and exterior facades of the pod, integrating the building envelope with the power generation structure. Paired with a large-capacity energy storage battery pack, it can achieve completely off-grid operation, relying on solar energy collected during the day to support all-scenario power needs, with the energy storage battery ensuring continuous power supply on cloudy or rainy days.
