3x6 Container House Materials

Admin September 17, 2026

The main materials for a 3x6 container house include frame materials, wall and roof materials, flooring materials, door and window materials, and other accessories, as detailed below:

Frame materials are the core supporting structure of container houses, typically using low-alloy high-strength structural steel (such as Q345B) or national standard Q235 galvanized square tubes with a wall thickness of no less than 1.5 millimeters. These steels undergo anti-corrosion and anti-rust treatments, enabling them to withstand environmental erosion from moisture and salt spray, ensuring structural stability during long-term use. Q345B steel, with its higher strength, is often used in critical load-bearing parts, while Q235 galvanized square tubes are widely applied in non-load-bearing frames due to their lower cost and ease of processing.

Wall and roof materials need to balance insulation, fire resistance, and lightweight requirements. Common choices include fire-resistant rock wool corrugated boards or rock wool composite boards, with a density of approximately 120kg/m³. If the wall thickness is 50mm, the total weight of the four walls is about 360 kilograms; when the same material is used for the roof, the weight is about 180 kilograms. Additionally, double-layer colored profiled steel sheets filled with 50 to 100 millimeters of rock wool or polyurethane insulation material between them can further enhance thermal insulation performance. Rock wool is highly resistant to high temperatures (with a fire rating up to Class A), while polyurethane is renowned for its efficient insulation, both meeting usage requirements under different climatic conditions.

Flooring materials need to be waterproof and moisture-proof. Waterproof and moisture-proof magnesium oxide boards are a common choice, featuring a flat surface and corrosion resistance, suitable for long-term use. Another option is 1.6mm plastic flooring, with a density of about 1.5kg/m², weighing approximately 27 kilograms for a 3x6-meter floor. It is lightweight and easy to clean but requires attention to prevent scratches.

Door and window materials directly affect the safety and airtightness of the house. 304 stainless steel security doors, due to their corrosion resistance and high strength, have become standard configurations; aluminum alloy sliding windows offer advantages in lightweight design and good airtightness, effectively reducing rainwater infiltration and air convection.

Other accessories are used to optimize the living experience. Wooden or metal frames can be installed internally to enhance thermal insulation and sound insulation by adding air layers or filling with soundproof cotton. Additionally, the house is usually pre-installed with indoor lights, electrical switches, sockets, and other home configurations, simplifying the post-construction decoration process.

The combination of the above materials ensures both the structural strength and functionality of the container house while considering cost and construction efficiency, making it a mainstream solution in current modular construction.
