What to Do If a Container House Needs to Avoid Rain

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

To address the issue of avoiding rain in container houses, a comprehensive approach involving preventive design, emergency response, and long-term maintenance is required. The specific measures are as follows:

I. Preventive Design and Maintenance

  1. Waterproof Design of Building Structure
The roof and walls should be covered with waterproof membranes or coated with waterproof paint to form a continuous waterproof layer, preventing rainwater penetration. The materials should be weather-resistant to adapt to temperature variations.

  2. Optimization of Drainage System
Install gutters or downspouts on the roof to ensure rapid drainage of rainwater. Lay gravel or construct concrete slopes (with a gradient of ≥5%) at the entrance to prevent rainwater from flowing back. Regularly clean the gutters to avoid blockages.

  3. Enhancement of Sealing Performance
Use silicone sealant strips or polyurethane sealant at the connections of the container. Install waterproof strips around doors and windows. Check the aging condition of the sealant every six months and promptly replace any cracked or detached parts.

  4. Regular Inspection and Maintenance
Before the rainy season, focus on inspecting the integrity of the waterproof layer, the smoothness of the drainage pipes, and the condition of the sealant. Immediately repair any rust or deformation found to prevent rain leakage caused by structural damage.

II. Emergency Response Plan

  1. Emergency Repair for Roof Leakage

    • Locate the Leak Point: Observe water stains on sunny days and confirm the leak location on rainy days.
    • Temporary Repair: After cleaning the surface, cover the cracks with waterproof tape or asphalt repair paste, and press the edges firmly to prevent water ingress.
    • Complete Repair: Apply two coats of flexible waterproof paint (such as polyurethane), and reinforce the edges with fiberglass mesh to enhance adhesion. After drying, an elastic waterproof layer is formed.
  2. Installation of Entrance Canopy
Choose color-coated steel sheets (durable), polycarbonate sheets (transparent), or canvas canopies (retractable) with an inclination angle of 15-20 degrees to ensure drainage. The supports should extend 30 cm beyond the entrance. When fixing, add rubber gaskets to prevent rust, and apply waterproof oil at the bolt connections.

  3. Emergency Protective Measures

    • Lay waterproof cloth or plastic film above the leak point, and secure the edges with sandbags or bricks.
    • Temporarily fill cracks or small holes with quick-drying waterproof paint, forming a protective layer after drying.
    • Place absorbent cotton mats and dehumidifier boxes indoors to reduce humidity and prevent items from getting damp.

III. Long-Term Performance Enhancement

  1. Addition of Waterproof Layer
Install TPO waterproof membranes or acrylic paint on the roof and walls to form double protection. Seal the joints with hot air welding or special tape.

  2. Optimization of Structural Water Resistance
Choose corrosion-resistant materials such as galvanized steel sheets or aluminum alloys to reduce the risk of rust. After multiple disassemblies and assemblies, check for structural deformation and promptly correct or replace components.

  3. Cleaning of Drainage System
Dredge the drainage pipes and gutters monthly to remove leaves, mud, and other debris. Before winter, check the insulation layer of the pipes to prevent freezing and cracking.

Tip: If the house is under warranty, immediately notify the developer in writing of any rain leakage and request free repairs within 5 years. In case of leasing, the lessor shall bear the costs for rain leakage not caused by the lessee. After repairs, keep photos, videos, and communication records for future rights protection.
