Two-Story Duplex Container House

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

The two-story duplex container house is a modular building constructed by assembling shipping containers, featuring flexible layouts, diverse functions, and stable performance.

I. Structure and Dimensions
Two-story duplex container houses are typically assembled from multiple standard shipping containers. For example, when three 40-foot containers are combined, the overall dimensions can reach 11.8 meters (length) × 6.75 meters (width) × 2.8 meters (height), providing approximately 80 square meters of usable space. More compact designs, such as a 44-square-meter example, utilize vertical space to create functional zones including two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a dining area, and a rooftop terrace. Assembly methods include horizontal or vertical combinations, secured through welding or bolting to ensure structural stability, while also reserving space for stairs or ladders to connect the floors.

II. Interior Layout and Functions

  1. Public Areas: The living room can be equipped with sofas, coffee tables, TVs, and air conditioners to meet leisure needs; an integrated dining and living room design enhances space utilization, with some cases adding a bar counter to strengthen social interaction.
  2. Private Areas: Bedrooms typically feature 1.8-meter-wide double beds, along with wardrobes, bookshelves, and desks to accommodate both living and working needs; bathrooms adopt a modular design, integrating washing, showering, and toilet facilities.
  3. Special Spaces: The rooftop terrace can be created by modifying the container roof, providing an outdoor activity area; vertical circulation layouts (such as optimized stair placement) reduce space waste, with circulation design adhering to ergonomic principles.

III. Materials and Performance

  1. Structural Materials: The main frame is mostly made of galvanized steel, offering corrosion resistance; walls and roofs commonly use color-steel sandwich panels filled with polystyrene or rock wool for both insulation and soundproofing.
  2. Environmental Adaptability: It can withstand extreme temperatures (high temperatures ≤ 50°C, low temperatures ≤ -50°C), withstand wind speeds up to Class 9 and earthquakes up to Class 8, making it suitable for various climatic regions.
  3. Modular Advantages: All components are prefabricated in factories, allowing for rapid on-site assembly, shortening construction periods, and reducing construction waste.

IV. Application Scenarios
Due to its flexible functionality, the two-story duplex container house is widely used in residential, office, commercial, and temporary housing applications. For example, as a homestay, it can attract tourists with its terrace design; as an office space, it can enhance collaboration efficiency through an open layout; in post-disaster reconstruction or construction site dormitory scenarios, its rapid deployment capability is particularly prominent.
