Truck, House, Container

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

It is generally illegal for trucks to directly haul container houses, as it may involve the illegal act of unauthorized modification of the vehicle's structure. The following analysis is conducted from three dimensions: legal, safety, and operational norms.

I. Legal Aspect: Unauthorized Modification of Motor Vehicles is Illegal According to Article 16 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, no unit or individual may alter the registered structure, construction, or characteristics of a motor vehicle without authorization. If a container house is fixed to the chassis of a truck through welding, cutting, or if the original structure of the vehicle is altered to accommodate the container, it constitutes "unauthorized modification of a motor vehicle." Such actions will result in orders to rectify, confiscation of illegal gains, and fines ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 yuan; in severe cases, business licenses may be revoked. For example, if a truck originally has a standard cargo box structure and is later fitted with a container mounting bracket or modified into a flatbed truck to carry a container house, it constitutes an illegal act.

II. Safety Aspect: Modified Vehicles Pose Significant Risks Container houses are heavy (a standard 20-foot empty container weighs approximately 2.3 tons, and can weigh up to 28 tons when fully loaded). If a truck has not been structurally reinforced (such as strengthening the chassis or upgrading the suspension system) to meet the carrying requirements, it may lead to risks such as extended braking distances and loss of steering control. Additionally, container houses are usually taller than ordinary trucks (for example, a 40-foot high-cube container reaches 2.896 meters), making them prone to collisions with bridges and height-restricted barriers. Under extreme conditions (such as typhoons or earthquakes), illegally modified trucks are more likely to have containers detach due to insufficient structural stability, endangering public safety.

III. Operational Norms Aspect: Legal Transportation Requires Specific Conditions If container houses need to be transported, specialized container transport vehicles (such as skeleton semi-trailers) should be used, and the following norms should be followed:

  1. Vehicle Qualifications: The transport vehicle must have a road transport business license, and its scope of operations must include "large object transport" or "container transport."
  2. Fixing Method: Containers must be connected to the vehicle's locking devices through corner fittings to ensure even stacking and balanced force distribution, preventing tilting or shifting.
  3. Weight Restrictions: The weight must not exceed the vehicle's rated carrying capacity (for example, stacking of national standard five-ton heavy containers must not exceed three layers).
  4. Route Planning: Height-restricted and weight-restricted routes must be avoided, and prior notification must be given to traffic management authorities.

Recommendation: If container houses need to be moved, professional logistics companies should be contacted to use compliant vehicles for transportation, or they should be transferred to the destination by lifting, avoiding direct hauling by trucks.
