Toilet Vanity Moving Methods

Quản trị 11 tháng 10, 2026

There are several main methods for moving the toilet vanity (washbasin), and you can choose the appropriate one based on the spatial layout and actual needs:

1. Move it outside the bathroom door Moving the washbasin outside the bathroom door can achieve dry-wet separation and improve usage efficiency. If there is enough space, you can design storage cabinets at the bottom of the washbasin to increase storage capacity. If you are worried about visual clutter, you can build a half-wall and install water-ripple glass on the upper part to ensure privacy and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the space. This option is suitable for families with small bathrooms that need to optimize their movement paths.

2. Three-zone separation layout

  • Storage room + washbasin + toilet area: Move the washbasin to the middle position and set up a storage area and a toilet area on both sides. This layout is suitable for guest bathrooms, with short movement paths and clear functional divisions. The storage room can be used to store cleaning tools, miscellaneous items, etc.
  • Laundry room + washbasin + toilet area/storage area: Transform the storage room into a laundry room to accommodate a washing machine and a dryer, freeing up balcony space. This is suitable for small households.
  • Drying area + washbasin + toilet area/storage area: If the space has sufficient light, you can change the laundry room into a drying area, install hanging rods, and take into account both ventilation and lighting needs.

3. Move it to the balcony If the balcony has pre-installed water supply and drainage pipes, you can add a washbasin next to the washing machine for daily washing, reducing the space pressure in the bathroom at the same time. If the bathroom is adjacent to the balcony, you can also install a small washbasin above the toilet and use secondary water to flush the toilet, achieving water-saving functions. This option requires ensuring that the balcony's waterproofing is properly done to avoid leakage problems.

4. Move it to the entrance hall or corridor

  • Entrance hall relocation: If the bathroom is close to the entrance hall, you can move the washbasin to the entrance hall for convenient hand-washing upon entering the house. At the same time, combine it with the design of a shoe cabinet and a mirror to have both storage and grooming functions, improving space utilization.
  • Corridor relocation: If there is an idle corridor in the house, you can move the washbasin there, but you need to plan the water supply and drainage pipes in advance to ensure construction feasibility.

5. Move the washbasin 10 cm outward For compact bathrooms, you can move the washbasin, which was originally flush against the wall, 10 cm outward to free up space on both sides and at the back of the countertop. This design can optimize the washing movement path, for example, making it convenient to place toiletries, and at the same time improve cleaning convenience and reduce卫生死角 (hard-to-clean corners).

Precautions:

  • Before moving the washbasin, confirm the positions of the water supply and drainage pipes to avoid damaging the original waterproof layer.
  • If wall reconstruction is involved, confirm whether it is a load-bearing wall to ensure structural safety.
  • Consider ventilation and lighting in the relocated area to avoid a humid environment that may cause mold on the cabinets.
