How to Relocate Toilet Pipes for Drainage

Quản trị 02 tháng 10, 2026

Relocating toilet pipes for drainage can be achieved through short-distance and long-distance relocation methods, with specific operations and precautions as follows:

Short-Distance Relocation (within 40 cm)

  • Tools Used: Specialized flat relocators or round pipes can be selected. For example, prepare drain pipes (cut to the relocation distance), 110-pipe matching pads (if using 110 pipes, remove the pads for old iron pipes), upper drainage 110 elbows, etc.; or use accessories such as 110 flat pipes combined with 90 round pipes. These tools can flexibly adjust the pipe position to meet short-distance relocation needs.
  • Slope Requirements: Maintaining a slope of 1%-2% is crucial to ensure smooth sewage discharge. At the same time, minimize the number of elbows, as excessive elbows increase water flow resistance and can easily lead to blockages.

Long-Distance Relocation (over 40 cm)

  • Construction Method: The floor needs to be raised by 20 cm to relay the pipes. Although this method involves a larger amount of construction work, it can effectively solve the problem of long-distance relocation and ensure smooth drainage.

Construction Precautions

  • Sealing Treatment: Seal the pipe joints properly to prevent sewage leakage and odor backflow. Sealing materials such as sealant can be used to ensure good sealing effects.
  • Floor Grooving: Exercise extreme caution when grooving the floor to avoid cutting into steel bars. Steel bars are an important part of the building structure, and cutting them may affect the building's safety.
  • Closed Water Test: A 48-hour closed water test must be conducted after construction to check if the waterproofing has been redone properly. The closed water test can promptly identify any issues with the waterproof layer and prevent water leakage later on.
  • Special Unit Type Handling: For sunken bathrooms, modifications can be made freely, but cast iron pipes should be secured with clamps and coated with sealant to enhance pipe stability and sealing. For same-floor drainage, the relocation plan can be decided independently, while for inter-floor drainage, approval from the property management and signatures from neighbors are required to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and requirements.
