How to Fix a Toilet After It Has Been Moved

Quản trị 16 tháng 10, 2026

The fixing method for a toilet after it has been moved should be selected based on its type, as detailed below:

I. Toilet Seat Displacement

If only the toilet seat is displaced, it is usually caused by aging and deformation of the support bracket. Replacing it with a new bracket will solve the problem. The operation steps are as follows:

  1. Turn off the water supply, use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws fixing the bracket, and remove the old bracket;
  2. Select a new stainless-steel bracket (which is corrosion-resistant and has high strength), align it with the mounting holes, and tighten the screws;
  3. Test whether the toilet seat opens and closes smoothly and ensure there is no wobbling. Note: Before installation, check whether the screw holes are aligned to avoid forcing the installation and causing the ceramic to crack.

II. Overall Wobbling of the Toilet

When the connection between the toilet and the floor is loose, it is recommended to use neutral mold-resistant silicone sealant (glass glue) for fixation. Its advantages are as follows:

  1. Mold and moisture resistance: It adapts to the humid environment of the bathroom and does not turn black after long-term use;
  2. Elastic adaptability: It can change with the thermal expansion and contraction of the toilet, preventing the glue from cracking;
  3. Construction points:
    • Clean the base and the floor: Use alcohol wipes to clean oil stains and dust to ensure firm adhesion of the glue;
    • Gluing technique: Tilt the nozzle of the glue gun at 45 degrees and draw a "rainbow"-shaped glue line evenly along the edge of the base with a thickness of about 3-5mm;
    • Curing time: After applying the glue, let it stand for more than 24 hours and avoid stepping on or moving the toilet. Alternative solution: If the wobbling is severe, first remove the old glue, install rubber shock-absorbing pads between the floor and the toilet, and then reapply the glue.

III. Outdoor Portable Toilets

Outdoor toilets need to deal with issues such as wind and uneven ground. The fixing method should be selected according to the site conditions:

  1. Site selection and foundation treatment:
    • Choose a flat area with good drainage and avoid low-lying areas prone to water accumulation;
    • For soft ground (such as grass or sand), lay 10-15cm thick gravel or wooden boards to increase the load-bearing area.
  2. Ground anchor fixing method:
    • At the four corners or load-bearing columns of the toilet, use expansion screws or ground anchor pins to connect the fixing chains (straps) to the ground;
    • Concrete foundation: If the site allows, pour concrete blocks (with a depth of ≥30cm) as counterweights to enhance the pull-out resistance.
  3. Windbreak ropes and diagonal bracing:
    • Install windbreak ropes at the top and fix the other ends to ground stakes or heavy objects (such as stones or water tanks);
    • In strong winds, use a "well"-shaped diagonal bracing: Use nylon ropes or steel wires to cross-tighten the main body of the toilet from different angles to disperse the wind pressure.
  4. Additional counterweight solutions:
    • Internal counterweights: Place sandbags (2-3 bags on each side, 20kg per bag) or water tanks filled with clean water on both sides of the toilet;
    • External counterweights: Use steel cables to tie heavy objects (such as stones or used tires) to the bottom frame of the toilet. Key principle: The counterweights should be evenly distributed to avoid tilting due to excessive weight on one side. Regularly check whether the fixing parts are loose and tighten them in a timely manner.
