Toilet Drainage Movement
Toilet drainage movement can be achieved using a toilet offset flange, or different methods can be employed based on the drainage type and apartment layout, with the movement distance needing to be reasonably controlled.

Toilet Offset Flange
A toilet offset flange is a plumbing fitting used for toilet installation. It is mainly used to solve the problem where the pre-reserved sewage outlet in the bathroom does not align with the sewage outlet of the toilet and cannot be connected. It can change the front-to-back or left-to-right position of the sewage outlet. Its common movement distance ranges from 5 to 10 centimeters, and in special cases, it can reach 15 centimeters.
Selecting Movement Methods Based on Drainage Type
- Same-floor drainage: Drainage occurs within the same floor. All the drainage branch pipes in the space are connected to the main drainage pipe within the homeowner's floor, without the need to penetrate the floor slab for drainage. Suitable movement methods include directly modifying the pipes, that is, re-laying the drainage pipes to align with the position of the toilet's sewage outlet; or using an offset flange for minor adjustments.
- Inter-floor drainage: The drainage branch pipes in the bathroom need to penetrate the floor slab to connect to the main drainage pipe for drainage, making rectification more troublesome. Suitable movement methods include using an offset flange for minor movements; raising the floor, that is, increasing the floor height to re-arrange the drainage pipes; converting floor drainage to wall drainage, hiding the drainage pipes within the wall; modifying the sewage pipes to re-plan the drainage path; and negotiating with neighbors to modify the pipes, although this method is difficult to implement.
Selecting Movement Methods Based on Apartment Layout
- No floor slab lowering: Usually, when the renovation is only completed within one's own home, the range of toilet movement is relatively small, between 100 - 300mm.
- Partial floor slab lowering: The floor slab is lowered in a concentrated area of the drainage pipe network. The range of floor slab lowering in the bathroom is relatively small, and the toilet position can be adjusted relatively freely within the lowered area, but overall adjustment is restricted.
- Overall floor slab lowering (sunken box): The toilet movement can be arranged and adjusted as needed.
Movement Distance Control
The longer the toilet movement distance, the longer the horizontal drainage pipe will be, and the greater the chance of the sewage pipe getting blocked. It is recommended to control the movement distance within 30 centimeters, and the maximum distance should not exceed 1 meter.
