Main Problems

• Causing confusion between male and female restroom areas: The "tide toilets" previously set up in Huizhou West Lake Scenic Spot in Guangdong had sliding door plates with male and female patterns that could be manually adjusted on the toilet doors. There were no locks, buckles, or protective measures, allowing ordinary tourists to make changes freely. This led to the labels being easily misadjusted during actual use, causing confusion in the identification of male and female restroom areas. Tourists might not be able to accurately determine the gender-specific restroom areas.
• Triggering restroom chaos: Since the labels could be freely changed and there was no on-site supervision or guidance, during peak tourist periods when there was a large flow of people, tourists might enter the restrooms according to the wrong labels. This would result in congestion and disorder inside the restrooms, affecting tourists' normal restroom experience and reducing the scenic spot's service quality and tourist satisfaction.
• Posing a risk of privacy leakage: When the identification of male and female restroom areas is confused, there may be cases of the opposite sex entering by mistake. This would undoubtedly cause great distress to tourists who are using the restrooms, seriously infringing on their privacy and potentially triggering unnecessary disputes and conflicts.

Improvement Measures by the Scenic Spot

In response to the above problems, the affected tide toilets have now removed all the adjustable labels and plan to replace them with fixed slot-type door plates. These fixed slot-type door plates can effectively prevent tourists from freely changing the labels, ensuring the accuracy and stability of the identification of male and female restroom areas. If there is a need to adjust the size of the restrooms in the future, the staff will directly replace the entire door plate. This can not only meet the scenic spot's need to flexibly adjust the restroom space according to the actual situation but also ensure the correctness and standardization of the labels, safeguarding tourists' restroom order and privacy security.
