Toilet Can Be Moved

Quản trị 21 tháng 9, 2026

The toilet can be moved, but an appropriate method must be selected based on the moving distance, and there are certain risks involved. Here are some common moving methods and precautions:

1. Toilet Offset Connector Method
This method is suitable for scenarios where the moving distance is within 15 centimeters, such as when the toilet's rough-in distance does not match the reserved position. A toilet offset connector is essentially a PVC pipe fitting that extends or adjusts the position of the pipe to achieve the offset. Offset connectors with specifications ranging from 8 centimeters to 60-70 centimeters can be purchased online. It is recommended that the moving distance does not exceed 60 centimeters, as an increase in pipe bends will significantly increase the risk of blockage, leading to backflow of waste or poor drainage. When using this method, pay attention to the following:

  • Reserved Rough-in Distance: Before tiling, reserve the center-to-wall distance (usually 33 or 43 centimeters) based on the toilet's rough-in distance (commonly 30 or 40 centimeters) to ensure alignment with the toilet's mounting hole after the offset.
  • Slope Control: The offset connector must maintain a certain slope (usually ≥2%) to prevent sewage from stagnating.

2. Raised Floor Method
This method is suitable for scenarios where the pipe needs to be moved more than 15 centimeters. By raising the bathroom floor (usually by 10-15 centimeters), new pipes can be laid and adjusted based on the original pipe layout. When using this method, pay attention to the following:

  • Waterproofing: The raised area must be properly waterproofed to prevent leakage due to the increased floor height.
  • Space Occupation: Raising the floor will reduce the clear height of the bathroom, so its impact on the user experience must be evaluated.

3. Relocating and Rerouting Pipes
This method is suitable for scenarios that require significant adjustments to the toilet's position, such as moving it across rooms. This method involves modifying the building's entire drainage system and must be carried out by a professional. The following conditions must be met:

  • Property Management and Neighbor Consultation: Communicate with the downstairs neighbor and obtain their consent to drill holes in their ceiling for pipe relocation.
  • Waterproofing and Sealing: The connection between the new and original pipes must be tightly sealed, and a waterproofing test must be conducted again to prevent leakage.

Risks and Recommendations
Moving the toilet may cause blockage, leakage, and other issues, especially the toilet offset connector method, which has a higher risk of blockage due to increased pipe bends. If possible, it is recommended to retain the developer's original design. If moving is necessary, select a method based on the actual distance and ensure that the construction complies with regulations, such as the slope of the offset connector and waterproofing of the raised floor. After construction, conduct a drainage test to confirm that there is no blockage or leakage before use.
