Temporary Mobile Toilet for Cats

Quản trị 24 tháng 9, 2026

Building a temporary mobile toilet for cats can be approached from two aspects: the container and the bedding material, while also paying attention to the placement location and the thickness of the bedding material.

Container Selection

  • Cardboard Box: Easy to obtain, and cats love to钻 (poke around in) cardboard boxes. However, if the bedding material has poor water absorption, urine can easily seep through and soften and damage the box. Therefore, choose a large and sturdy cardboard box, and you can also line it with a thick plastic bag to enhance waterproofing.
  • Washbasin/Small Basin: For example, a plastic washbasin has good waterproof performance, effectively preventing liquid from seeping out, and is hygienic and easy to clean.
  • Storage Box/Storage Container: A shallow plastic storage box is an ideal choice, with ample space and being sturdy and waterproof.
  • Selection and Reinforcement Points: The size of the container should ensure that the cat can easily turn around and dig in the bedding material. The edge at the entrance should not be too high to facilitate the entry and exit of kittens or elderly cats.

Bedding Material Selection

  • Outdoor Materials: Clean sand and soil are natural alternatives with good particle texture and burial properties.
  • Kitchen Supplies: Breaking dried noodles into small pieces can provide a particle texture, but their water absorption is average, requiring frequent replacement.
  • Paper Products: Tearing toilet paper into strips or rolling it into balls, and tearing old newspapers into strips (it is best to disinfect them briefly before use). These materials have strong water absorption but are prone to sticking to the cat's paws and are difficult to clean.
  • Other Materials: Wood shavings and paper cotton balls can also be options.
  • Selection Criteria: The particle size should be close to that of ordinary cat litter (2 - 5 millimeters). Avoid using powdery or overly large blocky materials. Ensure that the materials are non-toxic, have no strong chemical odors, and are not prone to mold.

Combination and Placement

After combining the selected container and bedding material, place it in a quiet, low-traffic, and relatively hidden corner to give the cat a sense of security, and keep it away from its food and water bowls. It is recommended to lay the bedding material 3 - 5 centimeters thick. In addition, when taking the cat on a trip, you can also use a combination of urine pads and cat litter. Place a urine pad that the cat has urinated on in the litter box, and the cat will automatically come to use the litter when it smells the urine odor. You can also prepare a portable litter box, such as the Yibao automatic litter box, which has a large space and can automatically collect and clean waste, suitable for multi-cat households or long-distance travel. You can also find a safe and quiet place to stop the car during the journey to let the cat go out for fresh air and relieve itself.
