Storage-Type Portable Toilet

Quản trị 23 tháng 9, 2026

A storage-type portable toilet is a movable sanitation facility equipped with the function of storing fecal wastewater. It typically consists of core components such as a fecal wastewater storage tank (or disposal unit), floor, sanitary fixtures, walls, washing equipment, water tank, roof, and mobile device.

Core Structure and Functions

  1. Fecal Wastewater Storage System
The core of a storage-type portable toilet is the fecal wastewater storage tank or disposal unit. The storage tank usually adopts a sealed design to prevent odor leakage and wastewater overflow. Some models are equipped with anti-corrosion coatings to extend their service life. For example, in a portable toilet modified from a water storage tank, a toilet is installed at the top opening of the tank, and a drainage outlet is set at the bottom to connect to the storage tank, enabling centralized collection of feces. If a disposal unit is used, it may integrate a septic tank or biodegradation technology to preliminarily treat the wastewater, reducing its volume and odor.

  2. Sanitary Fixtures and Washing Equipment
Sanitary fixtures include toilets, squat toilets, or urinals, which need to be seamlessly connected to the storage system to ensure that excreta directly enter the storage tank. Washing equipment such as washbasins, faucets, and showers requires a配套 (matching) small water tank or connection to an external water source. Some designs adopt foot-operated or sensor-based water outlet devices to save water. For example, in a modification case, a toilet is installed by cutting an opening in the water storage tank, and a washbasin and faucet are added to form a complete sanitation unit.

  3. Structural Support and Protective Components
The floor should be made of slip-resistant and easy-to-clean materials (such as slip-resistant tiles or composite flooring) and have a certain slope to facilitate the flow of wastewater to the drainage outlet. Walls and roofs usually use lightweight and heat-insulating materials (such as color-coated steel sheets or fiberglass-reinforced plastics) to ensure structural strength and facilitate mobility. The mobile device includes wheels, trailers, or detachable brackets, enabling the toilet to be transported to different sites by vehicle traction or manual handling.

Practical Applications and Advantages

Storage-type portable toilets are suitable for temporary events, disaster relief, or scenarios without a fixed sewage system. Their advantage lies in not requiring connection to an underground sewer network. They achieve wastewater self-containment through storage tanks or disposal units, reducing environmental pollution. For example, at an outdoor music festival or construction site, a single portable toilet can serve dozens of people, and regular cleaning and transportation of the storage tank can maintain long-term use. In addition, the modular design allows for the addition or removal of functions (such as adding a baby changing table or barrier-free facilities) according to needs, enhancing applicability.

Maintenance and Precautions

Regular cleaning of the storage tank is crucial. Professional sewage suction trucks should be used to pump out the wastewater to prevent the tank from overflowing and causing leakage. If a biodegradation unit is used, bacteria or enzyme preparations should be added according to the instructions to maintain treatment efficiency. At the same time, the seals and drainage pipes should be checked for aging to prevent odor diffusion. In extreme weather conditions, the roof and walls should be reinforced to prevent structural damage.
