There are various types of creative container houses in Shanghai, covering multiple fields such as commerce, cultural tourism, and public services.
Commercial Field: The "Shanghai Wanda Super Market" created by Mingren Cultural Technology is a typical example. This project takes creative containers as the core and transforms containers of different sizes and shapes into specialty snack stalls and nostalgic-style shops through modular design, cutting, splicing, and color enhancement. Each container shop serves as an independent check-in spot and can also be connected to form a vibrant market cluster. The open layout breaks spatial boundaries, and the dining areas and leisure seats extending outside the shops are connected with green plants and neon decorations, creating an integrated scene of "shopping + dining + socializing".
Cultural Tourism Field: The "Jiangwan Mingzhu Autumn Fun Market" in Mingzhu Creative Industrial Park relies on the container maker corridor and combines the historical and cultural resources of the old site of the Songhu Railway Jiangwan Station to create a cultural, commercial, and tourism scene that integrates brand display, intangible cultural heritage experience, technological interaction, and parent-child entertainment. Container houses here, as movable and combinable carriers, not only retain the tough lines of industrial style but also integrate local characteristics through shop sign design and color painting, becoming a composite space that attracts citizens and park white-collar workers to participate.
Public Service Field: The "Rong·Gubei Post Station" in Changning District, Shanghai, uses containers as carriers to build a shared service network. Its main body adopts weathering steel containers, with walls and alloy doors and windows prefabricated in the factory and solar panels installed on the top, achieving rapid construction and low-carbon operation. The post station serves as both a "mini government affairs hall" providing one-stop services such as information registration and employment consultation and a "community energy field" regularly hosting themed markets and cultural salons, becoming an important platform for凝聚邻里情谊 (fostering neighborhood friendship) and promoting community co-governance.
Creative Office Field: Shanghai Wisdom Bay Science and Technology Innovation Park is the first container-themed creative park in China. It uses about 500 container units to create personalized creative blocks and open public spaces. The industrial tough lines and flexible combination methods of the containers create an avant-garde and artistic office environment, attracting a large number of cultural and creative science and technology innovation enterprises to settle in.
