Semi-Trailer Refitted Container House
Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026
It is feasible to refit a semi-trailer into a container house, but certain conditions must be met and relevant regulations must be followed.

1. Legality of Refitting
- Skeleton Semi-Trailers: Skeleton semi-trailers are specifically designed for transporting containers, with a frame that allows direct loading of containers. As long as the transported containers are standard types available on the market and their dimensions comply with regulations, using a skeleton semi-trailer to transport containers is legal.
- Risks of Illegal Refitting: If a skeleton semi-trailer is privately refitted, such as by adding a floor, superstructure, stalls, or side panels, to convert it into another type of vehicle for use, it constitutes illegal refitting. This type of refitting not only may face penalties from traffic management authorities but also poses serious safety hazards.
2. Refitting Examples and Uses
- Mobile Homes and RVs: There are cases where semi-trailers or containers have been refitted into luxurious mobile homes or RVs, complete with comprehensive internal facilities including resting areas, business reception areas, office areas, kitchen areas, and sanitary areas. This type of refitting is usually driven by personal living or travel needs, but it is essential to ensure that the refitting process is legal and compliant and does not affect the vehicle's safety performance.
- Commercial Uses: Container houses can also be used for commercial purposes, such as mobile coffee shops, prefabricated refitted container modern design container kitchens, etc. These refittings usually need to meet specific commercial licensing and fire safety requirements.
3. Regulations and Standards
- Size Limitations: According to relevant regulations such as GB1589-2016, there are clear limits on the external dimensions of skeleton semi-trailers. During refitting, it is necessary to ensure that the dimensions of the container do not exceed these limits to ensure that the vehicle can legally travel on the road.
- Annual Inspection Requirements: During annual inspections, only the frame of skeleton semi-trailers is inspected, and containers are not within the scope of inspection. However, owners using non-standard containers may remove the containers during vehicle registration, licensing, and annual inspections to evade inspection, which is an illegal act.
