Self-Made RV Mobile Folding Toilet

Quản trị 01 tháng 10, 2026

There are mainly three feasible options for self-made mobile folding toilets for RVs, and the appropriate one should be selected based on actual needs:

1. Expanded bathroom utilizing trunk space This option is suitable for MPV and SUV models. The core principle is to expand the space by flipping up the trunk door. Specifically, open the trunk door as a canopy, use the three exposed sides at the rear of the vehicle to build an enclosed structure, install an adjustable-height base at the bottom to meet the needs of squatting, and equip the interior with a mobile toilet (such as a portable commode or folding toilet). The advantages of this option are that it does not change the original structure of the vehicle and does not require the removal of seats, and it does not affect driving safety after being folded. However, attention should be paid to waterproofing (such as adding waterproof cloth or hard baffles) and ventilation design (such as reserving exhaust vents) to avoid odor accumulation.

2. Simple folding toilet + garbage bag combination This option is characterized by low cost and rapid deployment. It uses a foldable portable toilet or spittoon as the main body, which is placed inside a thick black garbage bag with a coagulant (such as cat litter or special deodorizing particles) added. After use, tie the garbage bag tightly, wrap it in multiple layers, and then discard it. The point of contention lies in the actual experience: Some users report that the coagulant may not fully absorb liquids, leading to bag rupture or odor leakage. In addition, the operation of frequently changing garbage bags is inconvenient in a confined space, and its environmental friendliness is questionable (relying on garbage classification and disposal).

3. Low-cost waste utilization option This type of option emphasizes resource reuse. Common tools include large-diameter beverage bottles, oatmeal buckets, nut buckets, and other containers, or the combination of female urination devices, beverage bottles, and superabsorbent polymers for feces collection. For example, after pouring superabsorbent polymers into a beverage bottle, urine can be quickly solidified into a gel-like substance, reducing the risk of leakage. The limitations are significant: The containers need to be cleaned daily and have limited capacity (especially difficult for solid feces disposal); they are less presentable and more suitable for emergency situations rather than long-term use. In addition, materials such as superabsorbent polymers need to be stocked in advance, which may increase the burden of the journey.

Selection advice: If stability and comfort are pursued, the trunk expansion option should be given priority; if the budget is limited and it is for short-term use, the simple folding toilet can be tried; the waste utilization option is only recommended as an alternative in extreme situations. All options require attention to regular disinfection (such as using alcohol spray or ultraviolet lamps) and compliance (avoid discarding feces randomly in public areas).
