Rural Container Modified House

Quản trị 16 tháng 9, 2026

Rural container modified houses have characteristics such as innovation, environmental protection, economy, and practicality. Details are as follows:

Innovation

  • Structural Design Innovation: It is not simply using containers directly as houses, but redesigning them from three dimensions: structural mechanics, material thermal engineering, and assembly technology. For example, Baotou Xinxing Color Plate Steel Structure Manufacturing Co., Ltd., in response to the problem of large spacing between the longitudinal beams of the bottom frame of traditional containers and insufficient floor stiffness, adopted the method of adding C-shaped steel purlins between the bottom beams, enabling the container body to maintain structural stability even when stacked three layers high.
  • Functional Design Innovation: Container houses have diverse functions and can be customized according to needs. Some container houses are designed with hydraulic decks, which can open and close the upper and lower wall panels through an electric hydraulic system to increase the deck area. Some have furniture designed to be foldable and storable, making rational use of limited space to meet various living needs such as living, cooking, and bathing.

Environmental Protection

  • Material Recycling: The core value of container houses lies in the full life-cycle recycling of their materials. Each standard 20-foot container consumes about 1.2 tons of steel. Compared to one-time poured concrete temporary houses, the carbon emissions of concrete and steel required for the same area are 2.3 times that of container houses.
  • Reduction of Construction Waste: When the campsite is relocated or the project ends, container houses can be hoisted as a whole to a new site, with a disassembly and assembly loss rate controlled within 5%. Compared to traditional prefabricated houses, which require the replacement of a large number of panels each time they are disassembled, this significantly reduces the generation of construction waste.

Economy

  • Low Cost: The price of buying second-hand containers is relatively low. For example, someone spent 4,000 yuan to buy a standard second-hand container measuring "3 meters × 6 meters" for modification. The overall modification cost also varies depending on the complexity of the design and material selection, but compared to traditional house construction, the cost is lower. For example, someone spent less than 110,000 yuan to transform a 15-square-meter container into a cozy home.
  • Short Construction Period: Container components are prefabricated in the factory according to drawings, enabling rapid construction and saving a large amount of labor and time costs.

Practicality

  • Strong Adaptability: It can be applied in different scenarios, such as rural temporary accommodation, wilderness campsites, and homestay hotels. In the northwest with sandstorms and temperature differences, through reasonable anti-corrosion and thermal insulation treatment, the steel can maintain an effective service life of more than 15 years, and the indoor temperature is 8 to 10 degrees Celsius higher than the outside in winter without heating.
  • Meeting Basic Living Needs: After reasonable design and decoration, the interior of container houses can be equipped with complete living facilities, including water and electricity systems, kitchens, and bathrooms, providing a comfortable living environment for residents.
