Refrigerated Container House Renovation

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

The renovation of refrigerated container houses should balance functionality and practicality, focusing on insulation, waterproofing, ventilation, and space utilization, while also incorporating personalized design needs.

1. Insulation and Thermal Insulation Treatment

Refrigerated containers are originally designed for low-temperature transportation and typically have good thermal insulation properties in their walls. However, as living spaces, further optimization is required. Polyurethane foam boards or rock wool boards can be installed inside to enhance overall insulation, especially in extreme climate regions, ensuring stable indoor temperatures. The roof and floor also require special attention to prevent heat loss, such as applying waterproof and thermal insulation coatings on the roof and laying moisture-proof and insulating layers on the floor.

2. Waterproofing and Moisture Prevention Measures

Container houses are prone to moisture issues due to rainwater infiltration or condensation. The roof should be coated with waterproof glue or fitted with waterproof membranes, with seams sealed with sealant; moisture-proof treatment should be applied at the junctions between walls and floors, such as laying moisture-proof films or using moisture-proof coatings. Additionally, dehumidification equipment can be installed indoors, especially in humid regions, to ensure living comfort.

3. Ventilation and Lighting Design

Refrigerated containers are highly airtight, necessitating proper planning of ventilation systems. Exhaust fans or fresh air systems can be installed to ensure air circulation; at the same time, adding windows or skylights can improve lighting, with double-glazed or thermal-break aluminum windows used to balance insulation and soundproofing. If budget allows, a roof terrace that can be opened can be designed to increase natural ventilation and leisure space.

4. Space Utilization and Functional Zoning

The interior space of containers is limited, requiring efficient utilization through custom furniture. For example, foldable beds, built-in cabinets, and wall-mounted storage racks can be used to save space while meeting living needs. In terms of functional zoning, areas can be divided into bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, etc., separated by partitions or soft furnishings to maintain spatial openness.

5. Personalized Renovation Styles

Container house renovation styles are diverse, allowing choices such as industrial, minimalist, or natural styles based on personal preferences. The industrial style can retain the original metallic texture of the container, paired with wooden furniture; the minimalist style uses white as the primary color, emphasizing clean lines; the natural style creates a warm atmosphere through green plants and natural wood elements. The exterior can be painted with eco-friendly coatings to enhance aesthetics.
