Storage of Primitive Man's Portable Toilets
Quản trị 12 tháng 10, 2026
The storage methods for primitive man's portable toilets mainly fall into two categories: landfill treatment for simple pit toilets and structural storage for foldable equipment. The appropriate and environmentally friendly solution should be selected based on the scenario.

I. Storage and Disposal of Simple Pit Toilets
In remote camping areas or regions without infrastructure, pit toilets are a common primitive solution. The core storage logic is "in-situ treatment and痕迹-free restoration":
- Operational Specifications: Choose an area at least 60 meters away from water sources and trails to dig the pit. The recommended depth is over 30 centimeters. After use, the excreta should be completely buried with soil, and the ground surface should be restored with dead branches and leaves.
- Environmental Requirements: This method does not require carrying storage equipment, but strict adherence to the "Leave No Trace" camping principle is necessary to avoid contaminating the soil or water sources. If toilet paper is used, it should be biodegradable or buried along with the excreta.
- Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for short-term solo or small-team camping where local regulations permit pit excretion.
II. Storage of Foldable Portable Toilets
Modern foldable toilets achieve portability through modular design and require step-by-step storage:
- Structural Folding:
- The main frame is mostly made of aluminum alloy or high-strength plastic and can be folded to the size of a suitcase (e.g., some models fold to dimensions of 50cm×30cm×20cm), making it easy to fit into a backpack or car storage compartment.
- Before folding, empty the collection bag or curing agent container to prevent residue from corroding the equipment.
- Accessory Storage:
- The foldable toilet, garbage bags, and fecal curing agents should be packaged separately and sealed. For example, the curing agent should be stored in a moisture-proof manner, and double-sealed garbage bags are recommended to prevent leakage.
- High-end models may be equipped with solar lighting modules or waterproof casings. When storing, remove the batteries, fold the light poles, and cover them with protective sleeves to prevent scratches.
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- After use, wipe the toilet seat with disinfectant wipes. If allowed by the equipment, rinse off any curing agent residue with clean water.
- Thoroughly dry the equipment before long-term storage to prevent mold growth.
III. Other Portable Solutions
- Disposable Emergency Bags: Bags with built-in absorbents and seals can directly receive excreta. After use, seal them and discard them at designated garbage points, suitable for emergencies or short hikes.
- Small Foldable Toilets: Lightweight frames (e.g., carbon fiber) paired with replaceable collection bags form a stable toilet seat when unfolded. When storing, fold the frame to the size of an A4 paper and seal the collection bag separately.
Precautions:
- Before selecting a solution, confirm local environmental regulations. Some protected areas prohibit pit digging or require the use of enclosed toilets.
- For team camping, it is recommended to configure toilets at a ratio of 1:5 (e.g., at least 2 toilets for a 10-person team) and regularly clean the collection bags.
- When storing high-end equipment, refer to the instruction manual to avoid structural damage caused by forced folding.
