Signs of Collapse in Prefabricated Panel Houses

Quản trị 18 tháng 9, 2026

The signs of collapse in prefabricated panel houses mainly include the following points:

1. Abnormal ground changes
Sudden subsidence, hollowing, or sudden expansion of cracks on the ground are direct warning signals of collapse. Such changes may be caused by uneven foundation settlement or structural support failure, especially when the width of the cracks continues to increase or extends to the walls, heightened vigilance is required.

2. Severe damage to load-bearing components
The emergence of obvious cracks in load-bearing columns, beams, panels, or walls that continue to develop is a core manifestation of a decrease in structural load-bearing capacity. If the crack width exceeds 3 millimeters, is cross-shaped or penetrates the component, or is accompanied by concrete spalling and exposed steel bars, it indicates that the component is close to failure. In addition, if wooden components show severe decay, insect damage, or loose connections, the structural stability will also be significantly weakened.

3. Excessive deformation of components
Visible bending, tilting, or twisting deformation of load-bearing components, such as sagging beams, columns tilting more than 1/100, or bulging or sinking walls, all indicate that the structure can no longer maintain its original force balance, and the risk of collapse is extremely high.

4. Large-scale脱落 (peeling/falling off) of decorative layers
Sudden large-scale peeling or falling off of the plaster layer (rendering layer) on walls or ceilings, accompanied by deformation of door and window frames and broken glass, reflects increased internal stress concentration or vibration in the structure. Such phenomena often occur simultaneously with component deformation and are typical secondary signs before collapse.

5. Abnormal sounds
Sudden cracking, creaking, or popping sounds in the house may be caused by component fractures, loose connections, or material fatigue. Such sounds usually occur along with other signs and are auditory warnings that the structure is on the verge of failure.

Precautions:
The above signs often occur concurrently rather than singly. For example, the expansion of ground cracks may be accompanied by the tilting of load-bearing columns and abnormal sounds at the same time, indicating a significant weakening of the structural load-bearing capacity. Once any sign is detected, immediate evacuation and contact with a professional agency for inspection are necessary to avoid casualties due to delays. In daily use, regular inspection of the house structure and avoiding unauthorized modification of load-bearing components are key measures to prevent collapse.
