Prefabricated Housing Applications

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

Prefabricated housing is a building form where building components are industrially produced and assembled on-site. It has a wide range of application scenarios and significant advantages, becoming a new trend in the global construction market.

Application Scenarios

The application scenarios of prefabricated housing cover multiple fields. In the residential sector, it can be used for the construction of hotels, apartments, dormitories, etc. For example, a British merchant purchased 63 modular elderly care apartments, which were completed with on-site hoisting in just two weeks after arrival. In China, a public housing project in Shenzhen used concrete modules for assembly, quickly building five residential buildings nearly 100 meters high, with over 2,000 households already moved in. In the office sector, it can be used for office building construction to meet the needs of enterprises for rapid occupancy. In the medical field, hospital buildings can also adopt the form of prefabricated housing to shorten the construction cycle and put them into use as soon as possible. In addition, buildings with high requirements for construction speed and quality, such as data centers, are also suitable for prefabricated housing. In terms of commercial buildings, a hotel project in Papua New Guinea achieved fully functional operation quickly through the assembly of 84 modules.

Application Advantages

  • Short Construction Period: Factory prefabrication and on-site parallel operations shorten the construction period by more than 60% compared to traditional buildings. For example, in the Shenzhen public housing project, the completion and delivery period was reduced from 2.5 - 3 years to 1 year.
  • Cost Control: Overseas customers have reported that Chinese prefabricated housing has a significant price advantage, and the on-site labor force is reduced by about 50%, making the cost recovery period more certain.
  • Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency: Factory prefabrication reduces on-site noise, dust, and construction waste. Fujian Province has achieved a reduction of more than 70% in construction waste through policy support.
  • Stable Quality: Modular production controls errors with millimeter-level precision, resulting in better quality than traditional processes.

Market Trends

Prefabricated housing is transforming from on-site construction to factory manufacturing. In the first four months of 2026, the export value of movable houses in the Guangzhou Customs area reached 1.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 38.1%; the export value at the Shenzhen port reached 1.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%, indicating strong overseas market demand. It is also widely used in domestic public housing, commercial buildings, and other fields, showing strong development potential.
