Is the Sound Insulation Effect of Prefabricated Houses Good?

Quản trị 18 tháng 9, 2026

The sound insulation effect of prefabricated houses is generally poor. This is elaborated from three aspects: structural characteristics, real-life cases, and resident feedback.

From the perspective of structural characteristics, many prefabricated panels have hollow interiors, a design that inherently leads to deficiencies in sound insulation performance. Sound propagation requires a medium, and the hollow structure cannot effectively block sound transmission, resulting in minimal obstacles and slow energy decay during sound propagation. When sound travels through the floors, walls, and other parts of a prefabricated house, the hollow sections cannot absorb and reflect sound like solid structures, allowing sound to easily penetrate into adjacent spaces, affecting neighboring or upper and lower floors.

Analyzing from real-life cases, there have been reports of prefabricated panel buildings costing millions where there is no privacy in conversations between floors. This indicates that even in relatively expensive prefabricated panel buildings, sound insulation issues remain prominent. In a normal living environment, people expect a certain degree of privacy to communicate freely without being easily overheard by others. However, the poor sound insulation of prefabricated houses makes it difficult to meet this basic living need, with conversations between floors clearly audible to each other, seriously affecting residents' quality of life and living experience.

In terms of resident feedback, residents of prefabricated panel houses generally report poor sound insulation, with every little detail from neighbors being clearly audible. This further proves that the unsatisfactory sound insulation effect of prefabricated houses is not an isolated phenomenon but rather widespread. In daily life, neighbors inevitably generate some living noises, such as footsteps, conversations, and the movement of objects. If a house has good sound insulation, these noises can be effectively isolated and not cause interference to other residents. However, the sound insulation issues in prefabricated houses make even these subtle noises clearly perceptible, bringing many inconveniences and disturbances to residents' daily lives.
