Span of Prefabricated Floor Slab Houses

Quản trị 18 tháng 9, 2026

The conventional span of prefabricated floor slab houses is generally within 4.2 meters. The span of one-way slabs usually does not exceed 3 meters, and the maximum span of prefabricated slabs generally does not exceed 6 meters. Customization is required for spans exceeding 4.2 meters.

Conventional Span Range

Under standard production conditions, to meet the needs of most conventional buildings, the conventional span of prefabricated floor slabs is usually set within 4.2 meters. This span range has been verified through long-term practice and engineering, and can effectively balance various factors such as the load-bearing capacity, deformation control, and cost-effectiveness of the floor slabs. In general residential and small commercial building projects, spans within 4.2 meters can meet common room layout and functional requirements, such as the separation of living rooms, bedrooms, and offices.

Span Limitations of One-Way Slabs

A one-way slab refers to a slab where the load transfer mainly occurs in one direction. Due to its relatively simple force characteristics, there are stricter limitations on its span during design and production. Usually, the span of one-way slabs does not exceed 3 meters. When the span of a one-way slab exceeds this value, the floor slab may experience significant deformation under load, affecting the normal use and safety of the structure. At the same time, it will also increase the self-weight and material consumption of the floor slab, raising construction costs.

Maximum Span of Prefabricated Slabs

Although the conventional span of prefabricated floor slabs is within 4.2 meters, from a broader perspective, the span of prefabricated slabs generally does not exceed 6 meters. This is because as the span increases, the floor slab needs to withstand greater bending moments and shear forces, requiring higher strength, stiffness, and stability. When the span exceeds 6 meters, prefabricated floor slabs will also face more technical challenges and safety risks during production, transportation, and installation, such as the tendency for the slabs to crack and deform, the need for special equipment and measures during transportation, and a significant increase in installation difficulty.

Handling of Special Cases

If the architectural design requires a prefabricated floor slab span exceeding 4.2 meters, customization is usually necessary. Customized prefabricated floor slabs can adopt special materials, reinforcement, and structural designs according to specific engineering requirements to improve the load-bearing capacity and span capacity of the floor slabs. However, the cost of customized prefabricated floor slabs is relatively high, and the production cycle will be extended. Therefore, sufficient planning and demonstration are required in the early stages of the project.
