Prefabricated Concrete House Modules

Quản trị 18 tháng 9, 2026

Prefabricated concrete house modules are standardized prefabricated components made of concrete, used for the rapid construction of building main structures, offering advantages such as efficiency, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.

Modular Design and Construction Methods

Prefabricated concrete house modules are produced through standardized factory manufacturing, forming independent concrete spatial units. For example, the E-MIC system showcased at the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services features a modular design resembling “drawers” that can be assembled into building main structures through lifting and stacking, much like building with blocks. This design reduces module usage by 30%–40% through staggered arrangement of module units, while improving usable floor area and optimizing spatial layout. Standardized production ensures precise component dimensions, allowing direct assembly on-site and eliminating the complex processes of on-site pouring, significantly shortening construction time.

Construction Efficiency and Cost Advantages

The construction method for prefabricated modules primarily involves lifting, greatly reducing the time required for traditional processes such as formwork installation, pouring, and curing. Taking the first lifted module of Unit 4 at the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant as an example, weighing 454.289 tons, it demonstrates the industrial production and transportation capabilities for large-scale modules. Since modules are uniformly formed in factories, quality control is high, and later maintenance only requires replacing standardized components, reducing long-term maintenance costs. Additionally, modular construction reduces reliance on on-site conditions, making it particularly suitable for scenarios with strict deadlines, such as urban renewal and emergency buildings.

Application Scenarios and Flexibility

Prefabricated concrete house modules are highly adaptable and can be applied to various building types, including residential, office, and commercial structures. The E-MIC system enables flexible spatial division through module combinations to meet different functional requirements; nuclear power projects utilize the load-bearing and sealing properties of modules to construct safe and stable industrial facilities. Standardized production of modules also supports large-scale applications, reducing costs through mass production while retaining possibilities for personalized design, such as achieving architectural differentiation through façade decoration or internal partition adjustments.

Technical Challenges and Development Directions

Despite their significant advantages, the widespread adoption of prefabricated modules still requires addressing transportation limitations (such as logistics costs for oversized modules) and optimizing performance in areas like connection node waterproofing and seismic resistance. In the future, advancements in materials science (such as high-strength concrete and lightweight aggregates) and digital technologies (such as BIM modeling and intelligent lifting) will further enhance the precision, durability, and construction efficiency of prefabricated modules, driving the building industry toward industrialization and green development.
