Portable Toilet Types: The Complete Buying Guide
Quản trị 06 tháng 11, 2026
The main types and characteristics of Portable Toilets are as follows:

Classification by structural form
- Single-unit mobile toilets: Typically designed as independent units with a compact structure, suitable for scenarios with limited space, such as temporary events and construction sites. Their advantages lie in easy installation and rapid deployment, but they have relatively simple functions and limited capacity.
- Composite-structure mobile toilets: Composed of multiple modules, they can expand functions or increase capacity according to needs. For example, additional sinks and storage rooms can be added, making them suitable for large-scale events or long-term use scenarios, with high flexibility.
Classification by mobility method
- Lifting and handling mobile toilets: Rely on lifting equipment or manual handling, suitable for short-term use at fixed locations, such as exhibitions and music festivals. Their characteristic is no power requirement, but the handling cost is relatively high.
- Powered and towed mobile toilets: Equipped with a power system (such as an engine) or a towable design, they can be moved by vehicle traction, suitable for scenarios that require frequent relocation, such as highway construction and emergency rescue, with higher mobility efficiency.
Classification by sewage treatment method
- Flush and non-flush suction mobile toilets: Flush-type toilets use water from a tank for flushing, with relatively high cleanliness; non-flush-type toilets use vacuum suction or chemical agents to treat excrement, suitable for water-scarce environments, but require regular cleaning of the sewage storage tank.
- Recirculating flush mobile toilets: Using biodegradation or physical filtration technology, they purify sewage for recirculating use, saving water and being environmentally friendly, suitable for long-term use scenarios with limited water resources, such as remote areas or ecological reserves.
- Dry-pack mobile toilets: Excrement is directly packed into biodegradable bags, without the need for water or chemical treatment, with simple operation, but requiring regular replacement of the packing bags, suitable for temporary events or emergency rescue.
Portable toilets for specific purposes
- Portable camping toilets: Such as the Camco Standard Camping Toilet, with a capacity of 5.3 gallons, it uses a manual bellows-type flushing system to seal odors and liquids, preventing leakage, suitable for outdoor camping and hiking scenarios.
- Portable composting toilets: They decompose excrement through microorganisms, without the need for flushing, being environmentally friendly and convertible into organic fertilizer. With the increasing demand for outdoor exploration and off-grid living, their application scenarios have expanded to road trips, boating, off-grid cabins, and family emergencies.
