How to Store Water in Mobile Toilet Tanks
The design and application of water storage tanks for mobile toilets require comprehensive consideration of factors such as material, capacity, installation, and maintenance. Here are the specific details:

Material and Process
The main body of the water storage tank is mostly made of PE (polyethylene) material, which has the advantages of acid and alkali resistance, aging resistance, non-toxicity, and odorlessness, meeting the standards for storing domestic water. The main process is rotational molding integrated forming technology, where plastic particles are evenly attached to the inner wall of the mold through high-temperature heating, and a seamless tank body is formed after cooling, ensuring excellent leak-proof performance and avoiding leakage problems caused by splicing seams.
Capacity and Size Selection
The capacity range is usually from 500L to 10 tons, which needs to be determined according to the usage scenario and the number of people. For example:
- Mobile toilets (such as those in temporary venues like music festivals and exhibitions) mostly use 10-20-liter small water storage tanks to meet short-term usage needs;
- Construction sites or temporary camps can choose 100L food-grade PE water storage tanks, equipped with universal wheels (with a load-bearing capacity of ≥50kg) for mobility. Two holes need to be drilled on the side of the tank body: one is connected to an outlet pipe (equipped with a 2-分管 and a small faucet) for washing, and the other is installed with an overflow pipe to prevent water from overflowing.
Installation and Functional Design
- Core Framework: Build a square frame with PVC pipes, covered with waterproof materials such as Oxford cloth, and reserve a ventilation opening at the top to prevent odor accumulation; place a folding toilet (choose the type with degradable plastic bags) on the tank, and set up a small washbasin next to it and connect it to the outlet pipe to form a simple washing system.
- Detail Optimization:
- Install a float switch inside the tank to automatically trigger a reminder to add water when the water level is below the set value;
- Lay a non-slip mat at the bottom of the tank to prevent slipping due to insufficient friction during movement;
- When used in cold regions, wrap the water storage tank with thermal insulation cotton to prevent the water pipe from freezing and cracking.
Precautions
- Anti-freezing Treatment: In low-temperature environments (such as winter in the north), choose a tank body with a thicker material or add an insulation layer to prevent the tank body from being damaged by water expansion when it freezes;
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Regularly rinse the inside of the tank with clean water, and use food-grade disinfectants when necessary to prevent bacterial growth;
- Transportation and Installation: Large water storage tanks (such as those over 5 tons) need to be fixed with lifting equipment. Keep them horizontal during transportation, and check the stability of the frame after installation to avoid the risk of tipping over.
