Mobile Toilet Waste Classification Signage
The waste classification signage for mobile toilets needs to be customized according to actual scenarios, typically including basic categories such as recyclables and other waste, and following the new national standard design specifications.

As temporary or mobile sanitation facilities, mobile toilets require waste classification signage that balances functionality and practicality while complying with national waste classification standards. Although there is currently no unified signage specification specifically for mobile toilets, the general waste classification signage system can be referenced for design.
1. Applicability of Basic Classification Signage
The waste generated in mobile toilets mainly includes toilet paper, sanitary products, packaging bags, etc., which are generally classified as other waste (dry waste). If the toilet is equipped with a collection container for recyclables (such as empty beverage bottles, cardboard boxes), a recyclables signage is required. Some mobile toilets may generate a small amount of kitchen waste (such as food residues brought by users), but such cases are rare, and the decision to add signage should be based on actual needs. The signage design should adopt the colors and patterns specified in the new national standard: other waste is represented by a black background with white patterns, recyclables by a blue background with white circular arrows, and kitchen waste by a green background with fruit pit patterns.
2. Customization Requirements for Signage Design
Mobile toilets have limited space, so the signage needs to be simple and eye-catching, avoiding complex patterns or excessive text. It is recommended to use a combination of icons and text, such as posting an “other waste” icon above or beside the trash can, and adding prompts like “Please dispose of toilet paper and sanitary products here.” If the toilet serves specific scenarios (such as scenic spots, exhibitions), scenario-related instructions can be added, such as “Please do not dispose of non-toilet waste.”
3. Promotion and Application of New National Standard Signage
The new national standard “Signage for Household Waste Classification” (GB/T 19095-2019), implemented in 2019, standardizes the graphical symbols, sizes, and colors of waste classification signage. The design of mobile toilet signage should follow this standard to ensure consistency in public recognition. For example, the recyclables signage must use a blue background with white circular arrows, and the other waste signage must have a black background with white triangular patterns.
4. Supplementary Signage for Special Scenarios
If the mobile toilet is equipped with a collection container for hazardous waste (such as used batteries, disinfectant bottles), a separate signage with a red background and white skull pattern should be set up, and it should be noted that “Hazardous waste, please do not dispose of randomly.” Such cases are more common in long-term mobile toilets or environmental protection-themed event scenarios.
