Renovation of Mobile Toilet into Mobile Room

Quản trị 21 tháng 9, 2026

Renovating a bathroom (including mobile toilets) into a room involves legal risks and renovation restrictions, and it is generally not recommended to proceed with such renovations directly. If considering renovating the internal layout of the bathroom to improve space utilization, the following ideas can be referred to:

I. Adopt a 'movable' design The design concept of Danish hotel bathrooms can be borrowed, where 'multi-purpose use' is employed to stagger the frequency of space usage. For example, the sink can be moved along a track to reveal an independent shower cubicle, enabling functional switching. Such designs require attention to two key technical points:

  1. Flexible handling of the drainage system: When constrained by space during renovation, consider a modular connection method, appropriately reserving hose connections or movable drainage interfaces to accommodate dynamic layout needs.
  2. Multi-functional composite areas: Stack the sink and shower area on the same floor surface, and achieve functional switching through movable walls (such as folding doors or sliding partitions), enhancing space utilization.

II. Reasonably adjust the toilet position If the bathroom layout is unreasonable, choose a relocation method based on the drainage type:

  1. Same-floor drainage (sunken bathroom): Easy to modify, as pipes can be directly lengthened or shortened for relocation without crossing the floor slab.
  2. Inter-floor drainage (drainage pipes passing through the floor slab): Consider both water inlet and outlet issues. Prioritize the use of a toilet relocator (recommended relocation distance not exceeding 2 meters, with a drainage slope set); or switch to a wall-mounted toilet (connected to the sewage riser), reducing blockage risks and allowing for the addition of storage space through niches; if conditions permit, negotiate with neighbors to directly modify the sewage pipe (with consent obtained).

III. 'Squat-to-sit' renovation For families with elderly members, knee discomfort, or mobility issues, there is no need for large-scale bathroom renovations. A 'squat-to-sit' chair can be placed on the existing squat toilet. This device has an adjustable bottom, can fit various squat toilets, is installed stably, and is easy to disassemble, meeting usage needs while avoiding damage to the original structure.

Precautions:

  1. Any renovation must comply with building codes, avoiding damage to load-bearing structures or waterproof layers.
  2. Due to material and design limitations, renovating a mobile toilet into a living space has extremely low feasibility and may involve illegal use.
  3. It is recommended to consult professionals before renovation to ensure the safety and compliance of the plan.
