Electricity Usage in Mobile Toilets
Quản trị 22 tháng 9, 2026
Mobile toilets indeed require electricity, and their power supply methods, electrical equipment, and power consumption vary depending on the type and scenario.

Power Supply Methods
- Mains Power Connection: Directly connected to the municipal power grid (220V/50Hz AC power), equipped with a leakage protection switch to provide continuous and stable power. It is suitable for fixed locations in urban parks and scenic spots with fixed power outlets, but has low deployment flexibility.
- Solar Power Supply: Absorbs sunlight through solar panels on the top, converts light energy into direct current, and then converts it into alternating current through an inverter for equipment use. Excess electricity is stored in batteries. It is suitable for remote areas with abundant sunlight and a lack of municipal power grids or eco-friendly outdoor venues. For example, a public toilet equipped with a 7KW photovoltaic device can operate for about 3 days on a single charge.
- Dry Battery Power Supply: Uses dry batteries for power, requiring no external power connection and offering easy installation. However, its power supply capacity and battery life are limited. It is usually used in highway service areas or temporary event sites with low power demands or as an emergency backup in temporary scenarios.
Electrical Equipment
- Lighting System: Ensures internal illumination and is a basic power requirement for mobile toilets.
- Automatic Flushing Control System: Usually controlled by a microcomputer or infrared sensor and is one of the core power-consuming components. In the event of a power outage, different models have different response plans. For example, models that rely entirely on municipal water and electricity will become inoperative; models with built-in hidden water tanks and mechanical gravity flushing can provide emergency flushing 1 - 2 times; models with backup batteries can maintain basic flushing functions for several days.
- Winter Insulation and Anti-freezing System: Crucial in cold regions, including electric heaters and heat-tracing wires, used to maintain the internal temperature between 0℃ and 4℃.
Power Consumption
- Energy-efficient/Ordinary Mobile Toilets: The rated power per toilet cubicle is usually ≤5W, with a daily power consumption of about 0.5kWh per cubicle per day; in winter, to prevent freezing, it may increase to 1.5kWh per cubicle per day.
- Waterless/Microbial Toilets: They consume almost no water and mainly use electricity for fans and control systems. The daily power consumption of some products (such as the SMD - D - 30 model) is claimed to be <8kWh per day, which translates to <0.1 - 0.2kWh per person (based on an estimated daily usage of 80 - 100 people).
- Solar Waterless Toilets: They require only 4 - 6 units of electricity for every 10 - 30 users, with an annual comprehensive usage cost of about 5 yuan or less.
