Detailed Explanation of Mobile Toilet Construction Process

Quản trị 07 tháng 10, 2026

The construction process of mobile toilets is mainly divided into three stages: foundation structure construction, functional module installation, and detail refinement. The specific steps vary slightly depending on the renovation materials (such as water storage barrels or tanks). Below are the detailed processes and general precautions for two common homemade cases:

Case One: Renovation Process Using Water Storage Barrels

  1. Foundation Structure Construction
Split the water storage barrel in half along its central axis and install universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom wooden board to ensure mobility. The barrel body should be made of corrosion-resistant materials (such as plastic or metal) to prevent structural damage from long-term exposure to excrement.

  2. Height Increase and Wall Installation
Fix wooden strips to the upper edge of the barrel using self-tapping screws to increase the internal height of the toilet (usually ≥2 meters for comfort). Cut a rectangular opening on the side as a door frame, insert sponge strips to cushion the gaps, and cover the outer layer with plastic soft boards as walls, ensuring airtightness to prevent odor leakage.

  3. Roof and Waterproofing Treatment
Invert the upper half of the water storage barrel as the roof and fix it to the wooden strip frame with screws. Apply white waterproof paint to the surface to enhance aesthetics and prevent rain erosion. The roof edge should be designed with a slope (≥5°) to avoid water accumulation.

  4. Drainage System Installation
Drill a hole at the center of the barrel bottom to install a drainage pipe (diameter ≥50mm) connected to an external sewage storage barrel; drill a hole on the side to install a direct connector and insert a plastic barrel as a water storage device (for flushing). Seal the pipe connections with waterproof glue to prevent leakage.

  5. Bathroom Fixture Fixation
Make a simple bathroom heater frame using water pipes and connect it to a showerhead through a three-way connector; place a toilet and fix the water tank, connecting the drainage pipe to the sewage barrel. Choose a water-saving toilet, and the water tank capacity is recommended to be ≥10L to meet multiple flushing needs.

  6. Sink and Detail Refinement
Connect a water pipe horizontally to the three-way connector of the outlet pipe as the sink's inlet pipe, and drill a hole in the door to install a hose as a faucet extension. Make a door using foam strips and honeycomb wooden boards, fix it with hinges, and choose a rust-proof material for the door handle.

Case Two: Renovation Process Using Water Storage Tanks

  1. Mobile Base Production
Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a plastic pallet and place a recycled water storage tank (diameter ≥80cm) on it to ensure stability. The pallet should be made of materials with a load-bearing capacity of ≥200kg to avoid deformation during movement.

  2. Tank Cutting and Opening
Cut the water storage tank along the top marking line to form an open tank body; invert another tank as the roof and fix the outer frame with self-tapping screws. The cutting edges should be polished smooth to prevent injury to users.

  3. Doorway and Drainage Pre-embedding
Cut a rectangular doorway (size ≥60cm×180cm) on the side of the tank body, drill a hole in the internal floor to insert elbows and water pipes, and seal the gaps with waterproof glue. The drainage pipe should have a reserved slope (≥2%) to ensure smooth flow of excrement into the sewage storage barrel.

  4. Toilet and Sink Installation
Fix the toilet and seal the edges with glue, install a faucet, pipe cap, and stainless steel basin sink. Connect the toilet water tank and shower hose, and the water tank should be equipped with a float valve to automatically control the water level and prevent overflow.

  5. Door and Accessory Refinement
Make a door using wooden boards and hinges, install a door handle, and test the smoothness of opening and closing. Internal lighting (recommended to use LED lights with low power consumption and long lifespan) and an exhaust fan (power ≥20W) can be installed to enhance the user experience.

General Precautions

  • Drainage Method Selection: If using inter-floor drainage, obtain consent from the downstairs residents in advance to avoid construction disputes.
  • Pipe Sealing: All connections should be sealed with waterproof glue or PTFE tape, and a 24-hour closed-water test should be conducted after construction to ensure no leakage.
  • Professional Construction Advice: Non-professionals are only recommended to carry out simple renovations. Complex projects (such as electrical wiring and heavy structure installation) should be operated by certified personnel in compliance with standards such as the "Code for Design of Building Water Supply and Drainage" (GB 50015).
