Insulation Layer for Mobile House Containers

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

Common materials for the insulation layer of mobile house containers include expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam boards, polyurethane (PUR/PIR) foam, rock wool boards, and vacuum insulation panels (VIPs). Strategies to address insulation issues also involve selecting high-quality materials, adding thermal air layers, improving insulation layer construction, and ensuring airtightness.

Common Insulation Materials

  • Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Foam Boards: These are common insulation materials with good thermal insulation properties and low thermal conductivity, effectively reducing heat transfer. They are lightweight, easy to install, and relatively inexpensive. However, their fire resistance is poor, as they are flammable materials, and fire prevention measures must be taken during use.
  • Polyurethane (PUR/PIR) Foam: This material offers better thermal insulation performance than EPS foam boards, with a high closed-cell ratio that more effectively blocks heat transfer. It also has some waterproof properties, making it suitable for use in humid environments. However, polyurethane foam is more expensive, increasing costs.
  • Rock Wool Boards: As inorganic insulation materials, rock wool boards have excellent fire resistance, are non-combustible, and have good chemical stability, with stable thermal insulation performance. However, when installing rock wool boards, protective measures must be taken, as their fibers can irritate the skin and respiratory tract.
  • Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIPs): These are a new type of insulation material with extremely high thermal insulation performance and a thin thickness but significant effect, suitable for scenarios with strict space and weight requirements. However, they are expensive and have strict installation process requirements, necessitating professional installation by skilled workers.

Strategies to Address Insulation Issues

  • Select High-Quality Insulation Materials: For exterior wall insulation, EPS boards, rock wool boards, or polyurethane boards can be selected. For interior wall insulation, closed-cell insulation methods can be used, employing materials such as rock wool or expanded perlite boards. Alternatively, materials like plaster, adobe walls, or wooden boards can be used for spray insulation.
  • Add Thermal Air Layers: For example, when using EPS boards as the insulation layer, steel grids can be installed to create a certain distance between the inner and outer layers, forming a thermal air layer to ensure insulation effectiveness.
  • Improve Insulation Layer Construction: Prevent the occurrence of cold and hot bridges, improve the splicing of insulation materials, paying special attention to insulation treatment at corners and on flat surfaces to ensure no cracks at the splicing points of the inner and outer insulation layers, improving thermal insulation performance.
  • Ensure Airtightness: Cracks and rough edges should be avoided at the doors, windows, and air vents of container houses. Attention should be paid to the airtightness between doors and door frames, windows and window frames, as well as the joint treatment of steel plate surfaces. Methods such as edge sealing, pouring sealant, and adding keel fillers can be used.
