Laishan Container House Earthquake Resistance

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

Some container houses in Laishan have the ability to withstand magnitude-9 earthquakes, and their earthquake-resistant performance is mainly achieved through structural design and material selection. The following is an analysis from three aspects: technical principles, practical applications, and policy support.

I. Structural Design Enhances Earthquake Resistance
Some residential container houses in the Laishan area adopt a modular design, forming a stable structure through flexible vertical and horizontal combinations. The core earthquake-resistant mechanism lies in:

  1. Optimized Frame Structure: The container body is welded into an integral frame using high-strength steel, forming a load-bearing system similar to a 'cage'. This structure can absorb energy through deformation under seismic waves, preventing local stress concentration from causing collapse.
  2. Reinforced Connection Nodes: The container bodies are fixed by bolts or welding. Some designs adopt a 'dual-node connection' technology, where each connection point is equipped with two sets of fixing devices to enhance the transverse shear resistance.
  3. Stacking Stability: When stacked 2-3 layers high, the bottom container body increases its load-bearing capacity by adding crossbeams and diagonal braces. At the same time, positioning pins and anti-slip pads are installed between the upper and lower layers to prevent displacement and sliding during earthquakes.

II. Material Selection Improves Impact Resistance

  1. Steel Specifications: Q345B or higher-strength steel is used, with a yield strength of 345MPa, far exceeding that of ordinary construction steel, effectively resisting the inertial forces generated by earthquakes.
  2. Wall Materials: Some container bodies use lightweight composite panels (such as rock wool sandwich panels), which weigh only one-third of traditional brick walls, reducing the damage to the structure caused by inertia during earthquakes.
  3. Foundation Treatment: On soft soil foundations, steel pipe piles are driven in or concrete foundations are poured to disperse the weight of the container over a larger area, reducing the risk of uneven settlement.

III. Policy and Standard Support

  1. Local Regulations: The '14th Five-Year Plan' for Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction in Yantai City clearly requires that newly built temporary buildings meet an earthquake-resistant design requirement of magnitude 8, with some key areas (such as the Laishan Economic Development Zone) raised to magnitude 9.
  2. Industry Certification: Container houses produced by regular manufacturers must pass the detection specified in the 'General Technical Conditions for Container-type Portable Houses' (GB/T 36119-2018), including simulated earthquake table tests to verify their anti-overturning and anti-deformation capabilities.
  3. Regulatory Measures: During the cleanup of illegal container board houses in Laishan District, it is clearly required to demolish temporary buildings that do not meet earthquake-resistant standards, reflecting the importance attached to compliant earthquake-resistant structures.

Note: Not all container houses in Laishan have magnitude-9 earthquake resistance. Their performance depends on the manufacturer's design, material quality, and installation specifications. When purchasing or renting, it is advisable to request an earthquake-resistant detection report from the manufacturer and confirm whether it meets local earthquake-resistant design standards.
