Important Container Modular House

Quản trị 16 tháng 9, 2026

The important container modular house is a modular architectural form that uses containers as basic units, assembled and combined through various methods. It features rapid construction, low cost, and mobility, making it widely applicable in residential, office, and emergency settings.

Development History
The concept of container modular housing was first patented for modification by Phillip C. Clark in 1987. Its core materials include corrosion-resistant steel plates and eco-friendly panels, combined with shipbuilding anti-corrosion techniques, ensuring a service life of over 20 years and supporting customized designs in standard sizes ranging from 20 to 60 feet. In 2006, American architect Peter DeMaria designed the first nationally certified double-story container home, marking the transition of the technology from concept to practical application. After the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, CIMC rapidly built a school accommodating a thousand people using containers, demonstrating its efficiency in emergency scenarios. In 2010, China initiated the compilation of the "Technical Specification for Container Modular Combined Housing," promoting standardized industry development. In 2012, CIMC created the world's first recyclable container hotel for the UK, further expanding its commercial application boundaries.

Application Scenarios

  1. Large-Scale Events and Temporary Facilities: The 2026 Nagoya Asian Games in Japan used container houses to construct the Athletes' Village. Despite controversies over budget overruns and spatial design issues, this highlighted their potential in reducing costs for large-scale events. In the same year, Shanting District, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province, China, utilized container houses to create a distinctive homestay scenic area, showcasing innovative applications in cultural tourism.
  2. Emergency Medical and Disaster Relief: Due to their rapid deployment capabilities, container houses were widely used for constructing temporary hospitals and quarantine sites during emergencies such as the Wenchuan earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic, buying crucial time for rescue efforts.
  3. Commercial Innovation: Some brands have transformed them into 24-hour self-service fitness pods and mobile cafes, meeting flexible business needs through modular design.

Technological Optimization
To address heating and power supply issues, researchers upgraded traditional solar collectors to new photovoltaic-thermal panels, enabling simultaneous power generation and heat production. The heating system was changed from radiators to underfloor heating, reducing indoor temperature fluctuations from 78% to 12.5%, decreasing electricity consumption to 674.7 kWh, and nearly halving carbon emissions. These improvements significantly enhanced living comfort and environmental performance, driving container housing towards green building standards.
