How to Remove a Container House Roof
Removing the roof of a container house requires careful operation. Here are the specific steps:

I. Prepare Tools and Safety Protection Before removal, equip yourself with professional tools, including cutting equipment such as oxygen-acetylene cutting torches and plasma cutting machines, as well as personal protective gear like safety helmets, protective goggles, anti-slip gloves, and anti-smash shoes. If the roof is made of color-coated steel sheets, prepare ropes to secure the sheets and prevent them from falling. All tools should be inspected in advance to ensure that cutting equipment has no risks of gas leakage or electric leakage, and that protective gear is not damaged. Operators should receive basic safety training and be familiar with tool usage specifications and emergency response procedures.
II. Clear the Work Environment Thoroughly clear debris and flammable materials within a 5-meter radius around the container house to ensure sufficient operating space. If there are vehicles or equipment below the roof, move them away in advance or cover them with protective cloth. Set up warning fences around the work area and hang “No Entry” signs to prevent unauthorized personnel from approaching. If the removal work is near a major traffic route, coordinate traffic control to avoid accidents caused by falling objects from height.
III. Handle Roof-mounted Accessories If the roof is equipped with solar panels, ventilation ducts, lighting fixtures, etc., first turn off the corresponding main circuit breakers and use a voltage tester to confirm that there is no electricity before gradually removing the wiring connections. For metal brackets fixed to the roof, use a wrench or power tools to remove the bolts, avoiding forced pulling that could cause structural deformation. The removed accessories should be stored separately for subsequent recycling or disposal.
IV. Remove the Main Roof Structure
- Color-coated Steel Sheet Roof: First, remove the fixing fixtures at the edges of the roof and bind the four corners of the color-coated steel sheets with ropes to prevent them from slipping during removal. Starting from one end of the roof, use a wrench to remove the self-tapping screws one by one, or use cutting tools to cut along the seams of the color-coated steel sheets and remove the sheets one by one. If the roof is welded to the main body of the container house, use a cutting torch to precisely cut the welds to avoid damaging the container frame.
- Integrated Roof Panel: If the roof is an integrated structure, first use a marking pen to plan the cutting route to ensure that the roof panels are divided into weights that are easy to handle after cutting. Cut from the center of the roof outward, and it is recommended that each roof panel have an area of no more than 2 square meters. Keep the tool stable during cutting to avoid sparks that could cause a fire. Arrange for a dedicated person to monitor below and promptly clean up debris.
V. Safety Precautions Wear protective gear throughout the removal process. Smoking or the use of open flames is prohibited. If the roof shows signs of rust or aging, first use a hammer to lightly tap and test its structural strength to avoid collapse caused by stepping on it. Cutting operations should be carried out by two people, with one operating the tool and the other assisting in fixing the materials. The removed waste should be promptly cleaned up and stacked separately in designated areas to avoid occupying passageways or polluting the environment.
