How to Make a Self-Made Container House

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

You can refer to the following steps to make a self-made container house:

I. Material Preparation and Base Welding The foundation structure of the container house must ensure stability. The side panels are welded using corrugated sheets, which are thin steel plates pressed into a corrugated shape. The minimum thickness available on the market is 0.6mm, and they need to be cut according to the house dimensions and then welded into a whole. The base needs to be welded using channel steel as the main crossbeams around the top and bottom perimeters. The channel steel specifications should be selected based on the load-bearing requirements of the house, typically ensuring sufficient section modulus to resist deformation. Pay attention to the quality of the welds during welding to avoid defects such as air holes and slag inclusions, ensuring structural strength.

II. Welding Columns and Framework Construction The columns are the core supporting structures of the container house, with a thickness of no less than 1mm. They need to be pressed using professional equipment or purchased as ready-made products. The columns and channel steel together form the house framework, which needs to be fixed through welding or bolt connections to create a stable rectangular frame. The verticality and levelness of the framework must be strictly calibrated, with errors controlled within ±5mm; otherwise, it will affect subsequent decoration and overall stability. If using a full-house lightweight steel framework, first compose and measure the layout, then install the framework on the walls and floor, ensuring all nodes are firmly connected.

III. Modification and Installation Details

  1. Door, Window, and Floor Treatment: Refer to second-hand container modification cases. Use assembled wooden panels fixed on external sliding rails as the main door and install a lock; use an electric drill to remove the original floor screws, take down the old wooden floor, and then cut and reassemble it, filling the middle with insulation cotton to improve thermal insulation. Seal the gaps around the door with expanding foam and reserve water pipe holes for subsequent plumbing and electrical installations.
  2. Floor Hardening: First, lay a waterproof tarpaulin to prevent moisture penetration, then build a border around it using red bricks. Pour concrete to the height of the bricks, water and cure it after initial setting, and finally scrape it smooth with cement mortar to ensure floor levelness.
  3. Glass Door and Window Installation: Transport the glass doors and windows with multiple people, and use a level during installation to ensure proper alignment and sealing. The glass thickness should be selected based on the house span, typically no less than 8mm, and reinforced with a metal frame for stability.
  4. Plumbing and Electrical Wiring Layout: Plan the routing of plumbing and electrical wires in advance, prioritizing concealed wiring in channels to hide the pipes and wires, which is both aesthetically pleasing and safe. The electrical circuit must be equipped with a leakage protection device, and the water pipes must be insulated to prevent freezing and cracking.

IV. Inspection and Maintenance After installation, conduct a comprehensive inspection of structural stability, door and window sealing, and plumbing and electrical safety to ensure there are no loose parts, leaks, or short circuits. During daily use, regularly inspect the welds, bolt connections, and waterproof layers, and promptly repair any damaged parts to extend the lifespan of the house.
