How to Make a Movable Iron Toilet

Quản trị 29 tháng 9, 2026

Making a movable iron toilet requires adherence to design principles of leak prevention, odor control, and mobility, achieving full functionality through reasonable material selection and step-by-step construction.

I. Material and Tool Preparation

  1. Main Materials: Iron sheet panels (for walls and roof), metal frames (such as angle steel for structural stability), and anti-corrosion wooden boards (optional, for seats or decorative layers).
  2. Sanitary Equipment: Odor-proof stainless steel squat toilets (approximately 325 yuan), PVC pipes (including U-shaped traps), and three-compartment septic tank components (≥0.8 cubic meters capacity needed for a family of three).
  3. Auxiliary Materials: Waterproof mortar, sealant, universal wheels (if mobility is required), hinges (for door axes), screws, angle grinders, and other tools.

II. Construction Steps

  1. Septic Tank Construction

    • Site Selection: Choose a corner of the yard, at least 2 meters away from residences and 30 meters from water sources, with higher ground to prevent water accumulation.
    • Excavation and Waterproofing: After digging the pit, compact the bottom, lay a 10-centimeter concrete cushion; apply a 1:3 cement mortar base on the inner walls of the tank, then finish with a 1:2 waterproof mortar layer (total thickness about 2 centimeters).
    • Pipe Installation: Lay PVC pipes with a slope of 2-3 centimeters per meter to ensure sewage flows into the septic tank; install a U-shaped trap at the squat toilet outlet for odor control; install an exhaust pipe above the roof to vent biogas.
  2. Upper Structure Construction

    • Foundation Platform: Build a platform about 20 centimeters above the ground around the squat toilet slot using bricks, reserving interfaces for cast iron or PVC elbows.
    • Iron Sheet House Assembly: Weld metal frames as skeletons, fix iron sheet panels to the frames, and seal joints to prevent leaks; if mobility is required, install universal wheels at the bottom of the frames.
  3. Sanitary Facility Installation

    • Fix the odor-proof squat toilet to the platform and connect it to the sewage pipe; optionally equip with a sink, paper towel holder, etc., ensuring water pipe connections are sealed to prevent leaks.
  4. Door and Ventilation Design

    • Connect wooden boards to the frames with hinges to form a switchable door, and install door handles; set up ventilation openings or small exhaust fans inside to reduce odors.

III. Key Details

  1. Odor Control: The recommended volume ratio for the three compartments of the septic tank is 2:1:3, with a depth of about 1.5 meters; regularly inspect the U-shaped traps and exhaust pipes.
  2. Mobility Optimization: If frequent movement is required, simplify the septic tank design (such as using finished plastic septic tanks) and strengthen the structural stability of the frames.
  3. Cost Reference: The price of a simple color-steel movable toilet is approximately 600-850 yuan per unit (size 1.1 meters × 1.1 meters); self-construction costs depend on material selection and labor costs.

IV. Acceptance and Maintenance

After completion, conduct a flush test to check the smoothness of the pipes and inspect the sealing of all joints; regularly clean and disinfect, and check the anti-corrosion condition of the metal frames.
